Hockey Day Minnesota 2018
Congratulations to St Cloud on receiving Hockey Day Minnesota 2018
Any suggestions on who plays in the High School games? Here is my pick!
Class A St Cloud Cathederal vs Monticello
Class AA St Michael Albertville vs Moorhead

Let's be honest here. They will slide a metro team or two into the mix in order to get more viewers. Would love to see Cathedral vs Alex, but I doubt it will happen.chester1991 wrote:Congratulations to St Cloud on receiving Hockey Day Minnesota 2018

Why do people think Edina needs to play in every hockey day. OMG people!!!!!!CornerBar wrote:I've been hearing St. Cloud vs St. Cloud Cathedral, and then Moorhead vs Edina.
On another note, neither Cathedral or St. Cloud will play an important section game outdoors. Especially when the both of them play their section teams just once.

I agree that a Metro team has to be on here - this is a Fox Sports event (i.e. ratings).
I tweeted out (Cathedral v. Breck and Roseau and STC). But what Corner says makes a lot of sense regarding section game. I also think that Sartell could slide in here because of proximity (see Mahtomedi last year).
The problem with Edina or Holy Family is the blow out factor. If I were an executive, I wouldn't want one of those 2 schools pummeling the host. That is why I guessed Cathedral/Breck and tossed out Roseau/STC because everyone in MN loves the Rams and the game would be close/competitive.
At the end of the day, Cathedral has a bunch of options because they are a top 5 (if not higher) team. Whereas STC has some challenges.
The one I liked the best from an eye candy perspective was STC v. Cathedral and Moorhead v. Edina (but I'm not quite sure how Moorhead sneaks on the docket as a proximity team...Edina is closer to St. Cloud than Moorhead). And how good would it be for STC and Cathedral to play on statewide TV (oooh la la)???

I'm hearing? Better head over to the bars in Albertville for more scoop. Unless you have the inside scoop at FSN pure speculation. I was a 152 Club guy Corner or Gees and always enjoy friendly city days.CornerBar wrote:I've been hearing St. Cloud vs St. Cloud Cathedral, and then Moorhead vs Edina.

Not sure if this is real or not but if they do drop Annandale they would lose their best player.GoldyGopher wrote:A. Dropped Annandale.pioneers wrote:MAML is a AA team nowchester1991 wrote:Congratulations to St Cloud on receiving Hockey Day Minnesota 2018

No - he's grandfathered in.
Look, I'm not going to throw any of my sources under the bus, but i would say that my "speculation" is fairly accurate.alcloseshaver wrote:I'm hearing?
