Steve Olinger

Sad news for the Minnesota hockey community as Eden Prairie assistant coach Steve Olinger passed away. He spent twenty years coaching, the last seven at EP after thirteen with Chaska. He also coached in the Upper Midwest Elite Hockey League.

He was diagnosed with stage four melanoma cancer in the fall of 2015. He leaves behind wife, Corrine, two children, and two grandchildren.

Sad news indeed, thoughts to family and friends.
My son and teammate had the pleasure to play for Steve in the 2012 fall Elite league on team SW. I'm not a "metro guy" by any means, just a hockey dad, but he struck me as special guy and treated the players with such honesty and grace.
It was a pleasure to know him for just a little while.
The community of EP has lost a really quality person, RIP Steve.
