yeah, tartan is taking the section 2aa title for the third year in a row, there is no slowing them down at this point

I agree that this is a challenge. Tartan had a couple of hard workers this year but it looks like theyre going to be slowing down, to 3rd or 4th in the conference. DONT take offense all you tartan lovers thats just my personal belief.

the only team with a chance to finish ahead of tartan in the conference is hill but without any goalies tartan can go back to back

did this web site just get discovered by next years tartan hockey team???

First off hockeyboy00000, tartan did not dominate cretin in the section championship this year. Cretin had a one or two goal lead throughout the entire game. Tartan tied it up halfway through the third and won by one. That is dominating cretin??? Interesting theory.

I am going to say CDH will win section 2aa. And saying cretin only has hickey and mcdonough and thats it is pretty stupid. They return nine of there top 11 scorers. The only real loss CDH sustains is Matt Hickey. Cory Kieger will step up on the blue line and be one of the better defensemen in the state. Other than Hickey and McDonough, sean scott had 20 points last year and Ben Kinne had 15.

Ben House, last year as a sophomore. had a GAA in the high twos with 2 or so shutouts. He will be better than kinne was this year.

We wont know who wins section 2aa until they play the games, but cretin has been developing young talent for the last two years and those young ones are getting better and next year could be a real threat.

However, it probably will end up CDH v. Tartan in the section championship.

As one of the biggest defenders and supporters of Tartan's team last year, I can say that they simply lose to much to get back to state. Those seniors on Tartan's team were very underrated.

Wood will be an all-state goalie for the next 2 years (assuming he doesnt leave HS), but they lack expirience and firepower next year, and Cretin is just the opposite.

Also, if you think Tartan dominated Cretin this year (at least in the section final game), you were watching the wrong game. It was very evenly played and Wood was the difference for Tartan.

Next year Cretin will be the favorite.

Cretin, Tartan

I am glad to see there are only 2 teams in section 2AA. There are two other teams in that section that will be returning a lot of talent from last year. You guys just keep talking about a Tartan vs Cretin Section Final because when the finals do come around 1 or both of those teams might be watching.

Look at the number of posts from Hockeyman and Hockeygod08, the Tartan defenders! I'd bet its the same kid and plays for Tartan.

Keep in mind Hastings is losing Stewart, and while they had a very good bantam team last year, those guys are only sophomores and freshman now. Cretin and Tartan have to be considered 1-2 coming into the season.

I'm not sure what Johnson, Woodbury, or Park C-G have coming up, but they will need a fast increase in talent to compete for the section. If you have any info. on how those teams are looking, let us know.

Also, Cary Wood is NOT overrated at all. I have watched a lot of hockey, particularly in the SE suburbs over the past 10-15 years, and he is one of the best i've seen as a sophomore. For recent HS goalies, Alex Stalock was the best i've seen, he just signed with UMD and I would say that Cary Wood shows a lot more potential than Stalock did when he was a Sophomore.

CDH should win 2AA. For a number of years they have been runner up. They couldnt beat that very good Hastings team with Welch, Taffe etc; and then they couldnt beat a very good Roseville team with Sertich and those guys.

The last couple of years, 2AA has been more open but CDH has been down a little and I agree with puckster that Tartan was underrated.

I dont know why CDH would not be the favorite to win 2AA this year. Roseville is gone to another section; Hastings is down a little talent wise; I really enjoyed watching the fish sauce in the tournament but they lose their key guys.

There doesnt seem to be anything in CDHs way this year.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckerboy at: 5/4/05 10:07 am

I have good info on 2AA. Woodbury loses some guys but had a decent JV team. I see them as not being a big threat unless someone teaches them how to toughen up a little bit. Johnson could be the sleeper. They have 4 of their 5 defensmen back as well as their starting goaltender and 6 returning forwards that played on the first three lines last year. One of those kids only played in a few games last year because of an injury and he could be the best of the bunch. Park should remain down this year as well as Sibley. Hastings is losing Stewart, but they will still be a factor when it comes down to the end. They have some bantams that can play. The St Paul Hawks will also struggle this year although they seem to be getting better each year. Cretin will in my opinion be the team to beat. They have some skilled guys that also can play tough making them able to adapt to any style of game. Tartan on the other hand will be down. They have lost all of their senior leaders and when Woods leaves there goes their backstop. I would like someone to give me a few good reasons why they think Tartan will still be a player. I don't want to hear any stupid answers I want hard facts.

Thanks for the info on the rest of 2AA.

True Tartan will be down this year, I thought they were a top 6 or 7 team in the state last year, and they lose a ton of leadership and talent, not to mention 8-10 very tough kids that played a great physical game.

In my opinion, Tartan's fate will depend on Cary Wood's decision to stay or leave. With him, i'll predict a 2nd place conference finish and a section 2aa runner-up. Without him, they could slide to as low as 5th in the Classic Suburban and wont make it out of the section semi's.

Tartan will not go to state next year. With cretins great scoring abilty and there strong defense i see them going to state. Also with rumors spreading that they will have two new transfers, it will make them even better..
