Thanks for sharing. Always interested in seeing computer rankings because they net out who you played and do a great job sorting out who beat who and peak/low performances.

Interesting to see how much Karl's list and the cold PageStat calculation converge later in the season.
Be kind. Rewind.

Agreed, and it is also interesting to see the variations in the computer rating systems. I’m no expert in the algorithms involved, but PageStat seems to be the most accurate in aligning with human perception of the teams. RPI is heavily weighted toward strength of schedule (75%), while QRF values wins more than the other two systems. PageStat falls somewhere between those two ends of the spectrum, and always seems to beat the section seedings in predicting playoff winners. PS seems to be a bit like the KenPom rankings for college basketball.

(Don’t get a big head now with all those compliments, Lee  )

To quote the PageStat FAQ, “One game does not a season make.”

For better or worse, computer rating systems treat head-to-head matchups as just another game on the schedule. Duluth East has a few questionable results, such as the Blaine tie and the Eden Prairie loss, that no doubt drag down their computer ratings a bit.

Same thing could be said of Pagestat having STA ahead of Tonka. Tonka has not lost to STA in 2 games this season.
