Just wondering what people think about this kids situation. From what I hear he's in the WHL getting paid half a million a year and he's only 17 years old. Doesn't that seem kind of ridiculous?

Why else would he have turned down the vaunted gophers?

are you dumb, half a million to play in the WHL. Not even close, he gets maybe 50 dollars a week, tops. He has to make it to the show first to be seeing that type of money.

I hoped he wasn't making that type of cash. so why isn't he going to go play for the Gophs next year? Why would he want to go for such crappy money?

To put it softly, Peter Mueller wouldn't exactly last at the U of M.

dude half a million? when you sign with any team in major junior regardless of the league WHL, OHL, or QMJHL, you sign a standard contract were you get paid 35 dollars a week. thats it there are no exceptions. even sidney crosby didnt make that kind of money in the "Q" and he is a lot better playe then mueller

Unless he signed already, but is going to wait for a couple of years before moving up. That is the only way someone will be getting paid that much while playing in juniors (it wouldn't be coming from the junior team though, obviously). I have no idea about this particular situation, though. I have never heard of Mueller.

this is his draft year, there is no way he would have signed with an nhl team. and if you are of junior age and sign with an nhl club you play for them. they dont just sign you and send you down to juniors. you sign you have a ten game window before your contract kicks in and you start getting paid.

Meuller is an awesome player, him and Erik Johnson (National Development) will both make the World Junior Team this year and they will both be two of the top players taken in the draft. Just think if these two were still playing for their local programs, Jefferson would be unstoppable.

Does Mueller even have a local program? He skipped around almost every other year. The longest he played on one team was in Chaska.

I agree, Mueller's "hometown" program would be Chaska in my opinion, because he just moved to Bloomington for hockey.
