WNHL?
theres been a rumor that with the absence of the NHL and the tremendous success of the WNBA there are some serious talks about getting a league together they are in the process of filing a title 9 lawsuit that will let them play in all the arenas formerly used by the NHL teams, they will also get all the lockerooms and the guys will have to move and find new ones<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /alien.gif ALT="0]">

Not Hardly
Title IX does not apply to professional sports franchises or the venues in which they play. Also, the WNBA is owned by the NBA -- not a competing organization, which makes it easier to market, share a front office, etc. A lot of the franchises are owned by the same people that own the NBA team in that city. The WNHL is an idea that might fly for a short period, but would quickly crash and burn. My guess is that it is nothing more than a rumor.

thanks ,but no thanks...not even a close substitute for the NHL

If the NHL can barely survive economicly, how is girl's hockey going to survive. the answer is, it cant and wont
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

Maybe...
If they record the games, then play them in fast forward on the tv... ever notice the Gopher's womens commercials are played in fast forward? It doesn't look too bad until you get there in person... might as well pull out my fingernails one by one! It would be more entertaining! WNHL? I'm not buying... women's hockey is BORING! Well, the little kids are always fun to watch, but other than that...

If the NHL isn't very popular why would you think that a WNHL would beable to fill in for the NHL? Quit starting rumors.

Girls hockey is terrible. Too slow and boring to watch. Hockey is supposed to be fast. WNHL will never happen

Slinger
I would think Gunslinger would make a hell of a commisioner of the league. My vote if for the slinger to take charge and get it going.

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Re: Slinger
I don't know where you could have heard this rumor. Who on earth would want to invest money into a WNHL? Especially after the flop of a league the WNBA is.....

word is that an insider from nhl headquarters leaked the news earlier today but the nhl office is neither denying nor confirming the reports

Re: WNHL
Like women's pro baseball during WW2 right?

You know, I heard this rumor too. My guess is that they would go with replacements (men) before girls - even though it would be interesting to see them try either and make it go...

Re: WNHL
There already is a pro women's hockey league, its like WWHL or some other WWH_ acronym. Minnesota had a team called the White Caps. They played teams mostly in Canada. I don't know what their crowds were like, but I do know they only had 6 home games. 5 at Ridder, and one at Breck.
