can you imagine how much it would cost for Warroad to play with the "big boys", all their games would be 6 hours trips, then you "big boys" would cry about having to drive to warroad and not having enough seats saved for you because you want to go out to eat, geeze drop the whole AA vs A thing, its really a stupid Idea

How many Moorhead guys are going D1 compared to AHA? Didn't seem to matter too much in their game.... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

D1 really matters who has the best team in high school (cough cough), and that was AHA this year. But if you want to make it an issue, we can start with Hummel going d1 for sure. Probably Bariball and Mattson. And maybe Smith and Hawkins. Plus, AHA is really young, I guess the youngens beat a bunch of D1 superstars from MHD<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">
AHA 2002 & 2005 State Champions!

Moorhead and warroad have more guys going d-1 because they mostly seniors Moorhead had 15 seniors and I dont know how many warroad but Holy Angels only had 5 seniors and plus Van De Velde,Oshie,Hardwick aren't going until 2006 and now Lee probably wont go until 2006.

moorhead is what, like 4 hours from the cities, warroad is 6.5 hours from the cities, at least, warroad is still 3.5 hours away from moorhead, people from the cities would only want to drive there on the weekends, and I dont think they can cram 23 games into a season in just the weekends, I cant beleive im even arguing warroad going AA its a stupid conversational peice that never gets solved. besides its not your choice to make

Warroad wont go AA anytime soon, lack of school funds is part of that reason. Yes AHA beat Moorhead and scored 6 goals 1 on a empty net, but they did that on less then 20 shot! Moorheads goalies were beat bad, bad d in front of them and then when they had a chance to make a good save they still didnt. The way Thiele played against Moorhead makeing 39 saves and played in the Title A game tells me that Warroad wouldnt have given up those 6 goals. AHA was a very good team but Moorhead looked bad in there own zone, Lee was named mister hockey but I tell you on that night he was far from it. Give Warroad a chance and I can promise you that it wouldnt get that high scoreing and that yes Warroad could be AHA. We will never know but stop acting like its impossible, remember Tartan gave all of you a good run and lets face it, that team isnt nearly as good as Warroad

I would like to hear from some of the AHA players about a Moorhead/SSM comparison. You lost 4-3 to SSM and shots were very even. You beat Moorhead but the Shots were 2-1 in favor of the Spuds. In your opinion how would Moorhead do against SSM? I am not a Spuds fan just a HS Hockey fan.

HMMMM, best team in the state. Please define the criteria. If the AA tournament was re-played this week, I still wouldn't pick AHA to win. But, they are champs and that is that. If I had to pick one team in the state to beat them, it sure wouldn't be Warroad. Going undeafeated with the 32nd toughest schedule in the state is nice, but doesn't make you the best team in the state. Isn't Roseau in AA?

As for Warroad, I would pick the following teams to beat them 4 out of 5 games:

Moorhead
Cenntennial
White Bear Lake
Holy Angels
Bloomington Jefferson

I wouldn't say they don't have talent, but I wouldn't say they are the best either. I'll give them credit for what they are.....The 2005 State Champs!! No one can take that away from them!

Warroad & cost

Post by gunslinger » Wed Mar 09, 2005 12:56 pm

Please dont give me that line of bull about how much it would cost if they went AA..... they basically played a AA year... Roseau plays Double A as well.... Please... If warroad wants to be considered the best team in state, then they need to play in the BEST division.... Otherwise... keep dreaming!

-The Slinger<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... smokin.gif ALT=":smokin">

hockeyfan, maybe the most ignorant comment ever written on this board, and there have been a lot of them.
AHA is one of the most talented teams in the state, I'm not saying they are the most talented, but definitely in the top 5. You can't win a state championship with no talent.

I'd say the following players are pretty talented:
Hummel
Bariball
Mattson
Hawkins
Smith
Logan
Hurley
Brutlag
Krempa
Cooper

That is to just to name a few, and this year they are the best team in the state, nobody can take that away from them!
AHA 2002 & 2005 State Champions!

there is no need to argue with hockeyfan, I just read the meltdown he had in the thread about coach Morinville. He needs some help. Lee, if you haven't banned him yet you might want to take a look!
AHA 2002 & 2005 State Champions!

AHA was the best team in AA.
Warroad the best in A.

MSHSL does not give us 'the game'. But I would pay (and travel) to see it.

Almost always the AA team will be better, but we don't have the proof.

Best team in the state

Post by cliff77 » Wed Mar 09, 2005 5:46 pm
Holy Angels is the best team in the state because they have the best coaching staff in the state. Their victories over Jefferson and Moorhead in the state tourney proved that.

If AHA played Warroad, they would beat them by 4 or 5 goals. AHA is 3 forward lines deep, 2 D lines deep and most importantly, 3 coaches deep.

Sorry to burst your Warroad bubble. You are not even close to AHA in overall team quality.

AHA won class AA because they had the deepest, most talented team (goaltending included). I am not not willing to give coaches credit for this one. Bad part is (Good for them) that they are so young and will be back next year.

Moorhead had much more talented skaters, but lacked goaltending. Also not willing to blame coaches for this loss. Sad part is that with their Senior dominated team, this was probably their year.

With regards to Warroad, a complete team that certainly competed with Moorhead and may also have beaten AHA, but we will never know.

Need a ONE class tournament to determine a State Champion.

I think Moorhead, AHA, and Warroad could all beat eachother on any given day. They are all too good to be able to declare an outright "best team"

AHA might have won the championship, but the DOES NOT mean they are the best in the state! They just got lucky that night. SOG were completely in moorheads favor! If it wasnt for that stupid highsticking call (which it wasnt) AHA and moorhead would have been tied! Then they would have probably never left the net open for the 6th score.

Warroad is an amazing team congrats!!! Oshie, Lee and VandeVelde at UND next year is going to be great!

I think youre a little late MHSHOCKEY, no one cares anymore and no they would not have been tied, the faceoff would have been at center and not in Moorheads zone so who knows what would have happened. Yall lost.
AHA Stars 2002-2005 State Champs. HOLY COW
