is this tourney losing its appeal because some of the better players are going to juniors right away now that the season is over and skipping this tourney??

No, not at all. That would be like saying that the elite league games aren't any good to watch because some of the players went to the USHL or that the only State Tournament is the AA. People that think that way just have some growing up to do and are yet to become true hockey fans.

why would they have some growing up to do?? If you lose even one player the quality has been hurt. Don't even think about calling someone not a true hockey fan until you look in the mirror yourself. To make this a great tournament you have to have the best players out on the ice at all times.

You asked a question, don't be offended by my answer.

Sounds like you may have been stating your opinion in the form of a question. How can you blame a kid for opting for 10 - 12 games plus possibly playoffs at the next level? Should he stay and play in the Great 8 so that this toruney keeps its appeal??

So I guess I probably won't be seeing you at the Wakota arena, since a few players will be absent.

Isn't the great tourny supposed to be a spring-board for "unkown" seniors to find their way on to a USHL team and a weekend of great hockey?
Don't take away from the tournament just because Lee and Walters, etc won't be there.
<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

The rosters look a little weaker this year, because of all the players going straight to juniors. Heres how i would rank the teams as i see them.

1.5A-5AA - loaded
2.7A-7AA - good team w/walters, niskanen, downey, ryan
3.8A-8AA - even w/o lee, vandevelde, and oshie they look tough
4.2A-3AA - 3AA is all i gotta say
5.6A-6AA - a couple good players but lack depth
6.4A-4AA - have some depth but nobody that really stands out
7.1A-1AA - they got kangas
8.3A-2AA - they got nothing

It seems like the talented rosters rarely win. Less passing and more trying to beat guys one-on-one. It will be intersting to see how they do though. I'm picking the 8's. They seem to have the best Def. core in my opinion. But it will be fun to watch.

Section 5 has Miller and Schack (def), plus Malone, and Norling is going to be one of the goalies. TG had a strong defense this year, and with Norling having at least one set of def. in front of him there should be a good comfort level for him. He also knows the Breck players pretty well so this should make for a pretty stong team.
<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/nerd.gif ALT="8o">
