Sorry I didn't answer your question in the last post. But to my understanding he used to play for St. Francis and I believe that Hennepin district has a January deadline for transfers. To my understanding, he may have missed that deadline. Does anyone know for sure?
I hear what your saying, but if the Hennipen district had such a deadline and he missed it, he would not be attending Blaine at all unless he moved into that school district, right?

As far as the MSHSL is concerned, he should be eligible under this guideline:

D. The student was fully eligible and attending a Minnesota
school on the last day of the previous school year and enrolls
in and attends the new school on the first day of the school
year under the provisions of Minnesota state law. A student is
limited to one transfer under the provisions of this section
during the student’s high school career, grades 9 – 12.

schwartz has to sit out because blaine doesnt have open enrollment, so its a school rule that he'll have to miss 12 games

Schwartz and the other Blaine transfer goaltender will both have to sit the first 12 games, they can still practice with varsity and play JV games.

Are you sure? Because that would mean all of the Elk River recruits would have to sit 12 games as well?

If Schwartz was in attendance on the first day of school at Blaine and he has never transferred before, he will not have to sit out any games. The other goalie will have to sit out games because he is from out of state.

Same goes for all the new guys at Elk River. If it is their first transfer and they attended Elk River on the first day of school, they all play right away. If it is their second transfer without a relocation by their parents, they will have to sit out the first 1/2 the Varsity season. If its their second transfer and the parents moved into the Elk River school district, they can play right away. Of course this assumes they were fully eligible before they transferred from the old school.

Complete rule from the MSHSL:

19. TRANSFER RULE — A student of any grade level 7-12, who
disenrolls from one high school and enrolls in another high school
shall be ineligible to compete in any varsity sport for a period equal
to 50% of the regular season contests scheduled in all activities for
one (1) calendar year from the students first date of attendance in
the new school, unless one of the conditions of the transfer rule AD
have been met.
A transfer student is eligible for varsity competition if:
A. The student is enrolling in 9th grade for the first time.
B. The student transfers from one school district attendance area
to another during the same academic school year or during the
summer months preceding the start of an academic school year
in which there is a change of residence and occupancy in
Minnesota by the student's parents.
C. The student’s residence is changed pursuant to a child
protection order, placement in a foster home, or a juvenile
court disposition order.
CONTACT YOUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR for specific
information in this area. Transfer students are immediately
eligible for sophomore, B-squad or junior varsity athletic
competition.

Thanks for the ruling RL.

But...

Elk River has open-enrollment, so yes, in that case if they're in attendance the first day of school they will be eligible to play all games.

However; Blaine, has no open-enrollment, therefore, their players must sit 12-games.

If Blaine has no "Open Enrollment", how can they attend Blaine in the first place? As far as I know, (which may not be alot ) a student can not transfer to a school closed to "Open Enrollment". They would need to relocate to the school district to attend classes there.

Eason

Post by Puck Suck » Tue Dec 19, 2006 12:27 pm

Why is there all this talk about Ryan the Sieve Eason. I see real deal talking about his less than impressive 89% save percentage. Is the 8-1 pounding by Blaine in the section playoffs included in that less than impressive save %. Eason doesn't belong in the top 50 goalies in the state. He just got pounded by Blaine again in the game I was just watching on cable.

Siebert is hands down the best goalie in this conference. He has posted good stats throughout his high school career and in summer programs.

I agree with MNhock, Jeager from Champlin Park has the potential to be a great goalie...lets hope the he grows a little bit though.
