After a very sloppy first period, the action on both sides picked up considerably. STA's first game efforts showed early as line combinations evolved around killing penalties during the first period. 1st period to DM. STA storms back and owns second period, STA advantage in third and wins scoring opps in OT. Great game from the second period on.

Key note, STA Skated four lines into OT! DM often had gutsch and co matched against STA's 3rd and 4th. DM basically skated 2 lines from the second period on.

Both goalies were key as Crandall had many big saves and limited help in a tough first period of defensive play from STA.

Yes, Haverkamp and Lee both played. Ander's play was impressive given his absence from skating. Haverkamp played around 4th line, didn't see much ice time. Nonetheless, you could tell both of them hadn't been practicing.

Yea marshalls third line didnt play much but i was impressed with them when they were playing. they got out at least 4 or 5 times in OT

Not sure if that poster is from the STA community or not. I didn't notice Havernkamp much either, but I had my eye on Anders and he did really well. He had a lot of good hits and seemed to be a great leader for the team. Does Mike Daly play varsity hockey? I know he's played in past years and played football. Great D play from Tony and Rob like you would expect. Yes they had breakaways in the 1st, but only one of them was a pretty goal. Just goes to show why just making a shot is always a good thing in hockey; even bad shots go in. Yes good game, and although a win would've been great, a tie is probably better for march and for the same reason people said it was good AHA didn't get to state last year.

Blaisdell is the only captain. Tom left a vacancy for an Assistant but at this point it could remain Blaisdell.

And up to my knowledge I don't think Mike Daly is playing this year. Last year he hinted a few times that he wouldn't be playing this year. I'm not sure if that was him trying to be humble or him being serious. He did skate varsity in numerous practices and one game last year so he was under consideration. But with Matt Baer and Stepan coming in, I don't believe there are any openings on the D roster.

Willie Paul is going to be a very good goalie for Marshall in the future, but right now lacks the experience. Behning has been nursing a football injury a bit during the beginning of the season, and that might be the reason for the rotation right now. Both are solid but JB is the better goalie .

If marshall had SSM's team thed still blow the lead.. ive seen it at least 8 times n the past few yrs

Im not disagreeing with you, but oviously they dont blow that many leads they only lost 2 games last year.

a buddy of mine saw DM play and was wondering who the new big kid was, someone who was not on the radar. anybody know for sure? i'm thinkin it may be a Paine kid, originally from soup-town and last played for the norte dame hounds of sask. ca. can anybody verify?

#19 is Tom Paine. He is a 4th liner. Will he continue to be on 4th line is an unknown +-.

Wow, Behning is very solid from what I know, I can't beleive they'd consider switching off games between a goalie like Behning and a sophomore, almost disregarding the skill level.

I dont know for sure, but i think they are trying to give Behning a bit more time off cause of an injury, just being careful not to get him seriously hurt. They need him late in the season when it matters most. But getting Willie more playing time should help them out a lot this season and in the future.

The Marshall coaches are top notch, they are disregarding anyones skill levels
