midget hockey
I totally agree with Shooter. The top 20, maybe even top 30 Tier 1 Midget AAA teams would have very little problem with the top 5 or 10 MN high school teams. Most MN hockey fans can relate to the talent level of Shattuck St Mary's Prep team and since they've racked up 9 losses against Midget AAA competition this year, I would think that would help anyone better understand the overall skill of the league.

Tier 1 hockey is very strong and all you need to do is the math.
Just compare Minn. to Mich. Both states have compraible numbers, yet in MN, our high school talent pool is spreadout geograhicly throughout the state on several differnt high school teams. In Mich., (like most other states) the top players don't play high school hockey and they play midget hockey. The top 30 U-18 players (11th & 12 grade) are probably on one of two Major Midget teams in Michigan.
Now how good would Minnesota be if they took thier top 30 players and put them on two team? This is the kind of talent level that is out there at the Midget level throughout North America.
Now broaden your focus, to other areas accross North America, Michigan, Toronto, Illinios, California, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Florida, etc... There are proably at least 30 teams U-18 teams in North America that could come to Minnesota and beat our top 5 high school teams.

Minnesota high school teams(excluding private schools) are not able to seek out top talent in the country, much less in the state. Private schools get kids from many different communities of Minnesota. All public high schools in MN have players from their communities. Based on the number of some communities in MN, AAA teams should be able to beat MN teams. Roseau High School, 277 kids, not alot to draw from, yet they are the best team in the state could probably take out any AAA team. That's just one example.

No I didn't see them play, but I know they are a solid team. They would probably beat most teams in Minnesota. I'm not trying to take anything away from AAA hockey or Minnesota High School. I'm just saying, Midget AAA should be better since the teams can recruit the best players from around the country, where as Minnesota High Schools can only draw from their communities.

The only team I've seen play this past year was SSM's prep team when they played Holy Angels. Assuming that SSM is the best team in the country in AAA since they won the national championship, seeing them lose to a Minnesota High School team that was top ranked all year until beaten out in sections, i'd be willing to say that a team like Roseau, with at least 4 kids going to WCHA schools, could play with if not beat any AAA team.
I'm not trying to take away from Minnesota High School or AAA, they are both great hockey with positives and negatives.

I saw someone talk about the Nike Bauer Elite tournament held at New Hope... Well SSM should beat the Minnesota teams along with the other AAA teams. The Minnesota teams practice one time and play 3 games. Every other team plays year round together. Yet, the Minnesota Elite teams still held there ground and won some games and I guarentee if you take those Minnesota teams and have them play year round, they will easily be the best around.
Enough said.

Shooter812, Shattuck Prep is first in the nation in MidgetAAA, they played 2nd in state Holy angels whom didnt make it out of sectionals anyways, and lost 7-5, stop saying midget AAA "beats on MN high school" because that is just idiotic and bias after what happened, that proofs that the top mn high schools can stick with any top midget program. Shattuck is a great program, but saying that they "beat on mn high school" after they lost is just ignorant
