Edina
Edina ooked very good, however they were playing a severely shorthanded (top two players) and exhausted ( 4 games in 7 days) CDH team. CDH played tired and sloppy - would have been a great game if CDH had Mcdonagh and Hickey! At this point Edina has to be in the top 5 above Moorhead and Roseville because they have more quality wins. Watch out for these guys next year.
Anyone and Everyone, as it is for all teams on any given night. Its high school hockey upsets and breakthroughs happen all the timeZinger13 wrote:I know its early, but this Edina team looks good enough to win state this year. Who can beat them right now?
With that said...Edina did look above average from what i saw of them. They play very physical, and pounce on loose pucks. CDH was probably hurting without Hickey and McDonagh but don't underestimate this edina team.

It was actually 4 games in 6 days. But that's not an excuse for anything at all. Edina was 5 games in 8 days, would've been 6 had it not been for the weather (why the weather matters for a game where the teams are probably already in the city they're playing, I have no idea). So, really bad example.
Even so, woulda, coulda shoulda's don't matter, and that's why they don't matter for rankings. Or anything else. Edina is a very solid team who beat Cretin twice this year, once by 2 and this time by 4. Cretin's good too, but fluke I think not.

Like everyone else said Angels, Cloquet, Moorhead, and possibly Roseville. However Edina looked really good out there, fast and physical. They also have a lot of individual talent.Zinger13 wrote:I know its early, but this Edina team looks good enough to win state this year. Who can beat them right now?
There weakness/downside however is I saw a lot of individual efforts out there. A lot of kids (especially Reber) trying to go coast to coast (even when they had two on ones) get them to click as a team and pass the puck well, on the break as well as when holding the zone. Get this done and they could join the elite teams in the state and be considered at the same level as some of the teams mentioned earlier.
I know Hickey is hurt but why wasn't McDonaugh in. I thought he was healthy. (I was lookin forward to seeing at least one of the future badgers!)

No need to beat a dead horse; there are a good dozen teams that can beat Edina. However, the flip side is that Edina is good enough to beat those teams as well.
AHA was supposed to win it last year and they didn't even make it to Mariucci; that's why they play the games. But one thing I was impressed with Edina was that they have two great lines; only team I've seen that can possibly match AHA's top two lines in terms of firepower. Got great speed, but great size as well.
Imagine this Hornet team with Knelman (AHA), Lee (STA) & Student (BSM) on the club.
