Roseau Rams??

Post by wisconsinprephockey »

I know the Rams would be undefeated if it weren't for Moorhead, but I see a lot of people consider them a top 5 team. Having not seen them play and checking out their schedule I don't understand why they are so highly thought of. They have only played one top 15AA team and lost.

So what is the hype about?

What do they have going for them?

Or are they just over rated?

So what is the hype about? Small school playing AA, no recruiting, great tradition

What do they have going for them? Homegrown kids, love the game!

So you say no, but why not?

Don't get me wrong I love the fact that they don't recruit and the kids are actually from Roseau and love the game. But why do they deserve to be in the top five? What are there strengths and weaknesses. I know nothing about them, as I haven't seen them play. Anybody got anything?

They have a few young players that are very good. Landman and Ness. They have a few players that are on the cusp as being very good. They have good goaltending. But their D is a bit shady. I would say they are a top 15 team right now. Not a Top 5. With a little work and good coaching from Andy and Bill. They could be a Top 5 by the end of the year. Time will tell. The choice is in the players hand. How hard do they want to work?

Where ever you rate the Rams, make sure you put the Spuds just slightly ahead of them. They are good, but have not proven themselves YET!

Have faith in the Rams. With the finals in the Lil' Ralph, it will be a wonderful night for section 8 hockey!

Not over rated IMO

Post by iwatchalotofhockey »

I wouldnt say that they are over rated per se. But if you go by strength of schedule as determining factor then they should be rated lower for this point of the season.

However having seen them play and having seen several other teams in the metro I would say they can play with anyone in the state if they are on their game.

They have a good solid corps of players and depth in goal. they played three different goalies this weekend with only 1 goal being scored against but once again this is do to the strength of the teams they played.

time will tell as to where they end up but I definately think they are a top 10 team. When they played Blaine they dominated them and should have scored a shutout against them when they made the trip to the cities.

My biased opinion says they belong right up there. My unbiased opinion says they belong but not as high as they are for now based upon their schedule. Besides the rankings dont mean Jack now; its at the year end when we really care.

Blaine is ranked 13th, they also beat in A hibbing #5 and Totino grace #9

I saw them play Blaine and Totino near the start of the season. They're not a real big team, but they are quite skilled and aren't afraid to get physical. They moved the puck better than any other team I've seen this year short of AHA, adeptly headmanning the puck up the ice. In Aaron Ness they have one of the best young players in the state. The goaltending is very solid too.

Considering they lost to Moorhead at home, at this point I'd probably put them in the top ten. It's always a conundrum rating these teams but they were one of the better ones I saw this year. They were also a lot of fun to watch.

Rams

After watching the Schwan cup this year, and seeing Roseau play a couple weeks ago I would have to say they do deserve to be in the top five at least. The only teams they should be afraid of are the Holy Angels and Moorhead. I will also throw Cloquet in there too, but I have yet to see them play.

The rest of the teams at the Schwans cup were a step below where they have been in recent years.

They should have more points due to strength of schedule.

I almost guarentee that the Rams don't give a **** about where their players are on the leading scorer list. As long as they keep winning and closing the gap between themselves and Moorhead they are happy. That is their ONE goal from here on out.

21 days until test #2......they failed #1 but I think the Rams realized they needed to do a little more studying this time around.

As for the Rams being overrated....no way, with the goaltending and Ness and Landman, I think they will be just fine. But we won't know exactly until late February when the money is on the line..... :o

The Hockey Gods rewarded hard work. As we saw by the fluke goals :D scored in the 1st Roseau vs. Moorhead game. Moorhead oviously works harder at the game during the off season. The Rams have better done a little homework as far as the PK goes. Or stay out of the box all together. A good crosscheck to the ear and you could minimize Jordy. That would be about the only way the Rams shut him down. We will see who's top players show up at this one.
