The Hilltoppers in St Cloud 1-6-07
Duluth Marshall (9-1-2) coming off a tie to Hermantown is traveling down to St Cloud this Saturday to play the Crusaders of Cathedral (9-1). Probably the #1 and #2 seed for section 2A.

SCC didn't make a very strong case for the #2 seed with the loss to Denfeld before Christmas. They'll need to play well to get the W. I'll give DM the nod in this one, possibly an overtime game though.HShockeywatcher wrote:Duluth Marshall (9-1-2) coming off a tie to Hermantown is traveling down to St Cloud this Saturday to play the Crusaders of Cathedral (9-1). I really don't think that'd be the only reason for SCC's win. Although it would give Flaherty another excuse.
I've seen both teams play this year, SCC has superior Defense and a superior goalie. That could be another reason why they'd win...but you never know.

If Cathedral wins, though, this changes a lot for section 2A.
I may be wrong about the #2 or #3, but when it's all said and done, they're basically the same, they play easy games until they play each other, in which case they're in the same boat and the winner plays the #1 seed, unless there's an upset. Also, record wise, they are about even, and a win tomorrow would probably give Cathedral the #1 seed, not 2 or 3. So we'll all see how it pans out.
But I'm sorry.

actually it was the DM offence that shut down the Hawkschimer10 wrote:DM will win 4-0... DM's offence is too good for St. Cloud's deffence. And DM's defence is better then most people give them credit, they pretty much shut down Hermantowns offence last night...
hard to mount any offence when you are being peppered with 50 shots in a game
i'll go with the toppers 5-1

Hopefully the ref will have thicker skin than the patsy Denfeld ref who totally took Cathedral out of its game with DD by sending their goalie to the box for 10 minutes. Not to excuse the goalie at all, because he should have considerable blame for his actions, but perhaps a firm warning or "talkin to" by the ref would have been in order.
This will be a very good game. SCC will need to watch its back check if this becomes an up and down the ice game. It's imperative for Hess to stay under control. If DM runs him, it'll be up to the SCC defense to lay them out, which they're perfectly cabable of doing.
It'll be interesting to see how DM handles the forechecking pressure by SCC. Costly turnovers could be a difference maker. This game very well could be decided by a power play goal. Therefore, both teams will need to play disciplined hockey.
My predicition: SCC 3, DM 2.

Bluegoose, can't blame the ref for putting a player in the box who simply took his complaining too far....nobody to blame on that but Hess.
The refs at the Mac do tend to favor their Crusaders, but I think Marshall will win. They are more effective in every aspect of their game than Cathedral right now. I look for Hess to be busier in net than his typical 10 shots, but I think he will keep his cool...his players have talked with him about it. I don't think he would melt down twice in such a short time span.
