I say scrap the State High School League, their expenses could be better used by the Brainerds of the state. Any idea as to what they cost us? I've attended first class tournaments that are put on by volunteers, I believe that a state high school tourney would be every bit as good without them.

puckranger- yes I am being "rediculous" , it generates good discussion. Sometimes its works but my best guess is that there is at least 10 empty netters for every one that works out. I had a poor choice of words when I said "admitting defeat" Its one of the old ideas that eveyone...

empty net

I've argued with many and have yet to find anyone that supports my abstract position. No goalie= admitted defeat. The genius's say why protect a loss but I can still win a one goal game in the final seconds but cannot win the two goal game. Unless I have a huge territorial advantage I say keep my goa...

Bit my lip on this one many nights- done with that. More "wimping of America" brought on by parents. Hockey is about hard, cold fast ice, not plush sweet smelling lockerrooms and parent suites.

The post refers to heritage and tradition. You have to still be wet behind the ears if you think this criteria begins in the late 1980's.

True story- we had a bantam game in 1959- had a face-off in our defensive zone. Now get this, somehow the teams got lined up facing the wrong way. The puck was dropped, we won the faceoff and our wing rifled a perfect shot into our own net. Stupid us celebrated the goal in our old way, not like the ...

to lampthelight- do not downplay the importance of "peewee level of play"". You can have all the razzle dazzle you want but the teams that play solid fundemental hockey will be the winner- as witnessed by the success of Roseau's program. The Dicky Johnson coached pee-wees are the envy...

Dont know anything about the game- but from this photo if the net was off it looks like only the goalie did it, why should he or his team benefit??
Looks like he and all teamates were what we used to call "cold turkey"!!
Nice goal

I watched them against Fergus Falls. Overall team quickness is certainly acknowledged, but raves about the first line are overated. The first line matchups were very competitive.

Woog carried Danny Woog for years- what other D1 team would have done that? And what kind of talent was kept off the roster to make the opening? And the coach had him out on the pwer play- In my eyes this certainly wasn't in the best interest of the program.
