A terrible example to set for the kids if there were a Randolph kid or kids involved. If not then that is Northfield’s right and okay.
On the other hand why is Nortfield afraid of South and Century/JM? You are not Hermantown or Warroad.

Re: A post-Covid-19 Survey of boys and girls interscholastic high school hockey in North America.
Admittedly, I did not read the entire link. That said I think participation numbers would be a more relevant study. Also different locations had different Covid restrictions. That would affect the statistics. For example Iowa played high school and legion baseball in 2020, most states did not. On ag...

Send La Crescent! Can you have two class A schools further apart? Literally you can get to Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City quicker from La Crescent than Warroad.

Re: 2023-24 Fluid Offseason Rankings
Brodzinak…..because Farmington as a single program will now become a co-op. In theory it could become a competitive advantage. Those days have past……. 10 or so years ago when Rochester Century was struggling with numbers and couldn’t field a JV team for 3 periods the Big Nine would not let them stay...

Re: 2023-24 Fluid Offseason Rankings
Randolph kids could play in Farmington but there are hoops to jump through….. The MSHSL has to let Northfield dissipate their co-op with Randolph. Staying in lower class doesn’t hold much water (unless you are Lourdes) in my limited experience. Both the Farmington and Randolph school boards have to ...

Re: 2023-24 Fluid Offseason Rankings
No concrete information. From what I understand Northfield would have to find a place for any Randolph player to play. I do not know if there are any current Randolph players at Northfield. If there any South and Hastings would be the programs to pick them up. They would have to agree to pick them u...

Re: 2023-24 Fluid Offseason Rankings
I think with the co-op of Century and John Marshall that they become a lower top 25 team. If Jayden Veney can be convinced to come back they are the 1AA favorites. Being a defenseman and getting to be coached by Doug Zmolek has to factor into his decision I would hope (as JM fan). Both John Marshall...

Re: 2023-24 Season Transfers
Not really a transfer situation but the Rochester school board approved a co-op between Century and John Marshall for at least the next two years. Century will be the host program, so in practicality, the John Marshall kids will now be at Century.

Sorry I missed his leaving as the head coach at STA to become a volunteer at newly D1 St Thomas. (Really?)
Nothing changes from my original post. He is paid by more than his actual coaching job.

Re: 2023-2024 New Section Alignment?
Trying hard to stay apolitical…. Inflation and Government at the State and state levels decreasing the income levels needed for Government support are changing the way the MSHSL qualifies things. (Is changing the poverty requirement for a family of 4, say, from $60,000 to $95,000 really an increase ...

Re: 2023-2024 New Section Alignment?
Obviously, this won’t affect the new alignment coming out in April but what happens in two years when there are no Free/Reduced lunch students? You have to apply for the F/R lunch rate and that is how the state counts the F/R students but without a benefit to actually apply for it I can’t imagine th...

Re: 2023-2024 New Section Alignment?
I can’t say for hockey but the local football coaches have been informed what class they will be in, the districts they will play in are still being finalized. For example, Rochester Mayo was informed they will be in 6A next cycle, meaning they are one of the top 32 schools and will play no local te...

Re: Tournaments in other states
Illinois has gotten better and better. They play it, girls and boys, the same day at the United Center (where the Blackhawks play). The high schools far outdraw the AAA teams and have been continuing getting better. I can’t believe it won’t be long until Northwestern, Illinois, or UIC has D1 hockey...

Re: 23 state tournament winners
As a point of clarification…. Football takes the top 32 schools by enrollment and makes them 6A. Any team that opts up makes the lowest enrollment school drop down so at the maximum there are 32 6A teams in football. So, since TG opted up Rochester Mayo was sent back down to 5A. In hockey the top 64...

It’s not like a Superman or Spider-Man comic book but I collect State Hockey Tournament programs.I have every one from 1965 to 2020. The MSHSL did a nice job with team photos, season records, history, anniversary articles, state tournament stats, and pictures of those few teams who still had cheerle...

Warroad couldn’t win 3 in a row in A playing Cathedral, Orono, and Mahtomedi. No way they win 3 in a row in AA.

Clearly the no nights off schedule the schools in the TRME pays off come sections and state.
Maybe if the schools in the TRME had 18,000 students like Lake Conference schools do there could be an argument…..

Re: CLASS AA SF - #1 Minnetonka vs #4 Andover
And seconds later it is 3-1.
. The better team won but Andover went from what should have been a 5 on 3 to a 4 on 4 in a one goal game late in the third. I’d have been okay with no calls but to make the one and not the other? Ridiculous!
