I totally agree with you. But good luck convincing the 4-10 parents and players from each team that they should be playing cross-ice after they've already had a taste of full-ice. I really think it should have been slowly implemented, with mandating 1st and 2nd year Mites with cross-ice this year (...

The best is talking to the goalie's dad and listening to him complain about all the shots the team is giving up, and how they need to play better defense, etc. I simply reply he's getting his money's worth. And even more fun is listening to the parents blame the goalie for giving up a goal on the t...

Re: District 8 Penalizes Team and Coach
Over the weekend, I was talking to a few parents from Lakeville. They proceeded to tell me that one of their Bantam B1 teams are being penalized $1500, plus the head coach is receiving a 3 game suspension for playing in a Bantam A tournament (which they took 3rd place in) during the season. Isn't &...

Why do so many more europeans play in the NHL than U.S. born players? Their first sport is soccer. You might find the answer to this in the dump and chase thread. Nice post HD10. Just one correction. 2010-11 NHL Players by Birthplace Europe 223 22.8% US 234 23.9% Canada 521 53.3% http://en.wikipedi...

Ethical breach alert..... 04 nats use 03 goalie.... Eliminated from tournament.... Forfeit all games..... #-o #-o That would come as no surprise with the Nats. Three summers ago my son's 01 team played their 01 team in a tournament and they were using a 00 goalie and 1 00 skater. Other players on o...

Re: How to destroy a 9-year-old
Well, not to sound callous, but if that is what the rules say then that is what they say. You can't just get rid of offsides because one kid has trouble with it either. But the real blame here goes on whoever put this kid who apparently could barely skate into a 'selects' tournament in the first pla...

If that's true, then it is another fine example of Minnesota Hockey "fighting for us".goaliewithfoggedglasses wrote:I emailed Guy Gosselin, the USA Hockey ADM Manager for our region. He said the proposal OTC posted above passed with a unanimous vote. What that means for Minnesota remains to be seen I guess.

Re: Cross Ice Games
I heard USA Hockey is trying to make all Mite Games Cross Ice for 2013. MN Hockey is fighting. Seems a little crazy to make your advance/last year of Mites play only cross ice hockey. I would assume you would play 3 on 3 at that level. I agree lower mites should but your older mites are 8-9 years o...

Maybe not quite that simple.....but great advice. Paying attention to their attitude, particularly to their attitude at home with their family is a great way to check in. Kids often have a blast when they are playing with their friends, but then are crabby at home. Saying no, may not be what you th...

Sounds like this tourney should be posted in the girls youth hockey forum. 2112, If you don't like the sounds of this tournament then don't play in it. No need to bash. I think these type of tourneys will start popping up. Really, $1,599 a tournament? Ice is cheapest in the summers. Entry fees are ...

Realistically, if you are truly looking for goalie development, your money is better spent on goalie training than AAA hockey. AAA is fun for them, but it isn't generally the best return on investment for the goalie outside of the fun. That said, I do know the the MN Black Bears have a good goalie ...
