Re: AA QF: #5 Duluth East vs. #4 St. Thomas Academy
HOCKEYWATCHER ,i asked you to give me names of all the Wisconsin players who have played for STA , I said there has been one, Tommy Novak and that's it. Its really misleading to say STA recruits Wisconsin Sorry for not responding to your inquiry sooner. The class of 2015 STA team ended up with at l...

Re: AA QF: #5 Duluth East vs. #4 St. Thomas Academy
dear hockey watcher, would you care to name all the Wisconsin kids who have or are playing for STA. To my knowledge there has been one in the 100 years the school has been around. FYI, majority of the class of 2015 were the former Wisconsin Fires recruits, several of which were WI residents, includ...

Re: Section 3AA Final: (3)Eagan vs (1) St. Thomas Academy
Not sure why STA never plays Eagan during the regular season. Playing against several of the single A teams in their conference only inflates the skaters stats and doesn't do anything for either team. One can argue STA really hasn't had much competition during their run of 17 consecutive wins.

Re: Private School Top 10 for 2018-19
The Vanelli's have put this senior class at STA on a pedestal for several years now. Most have skated varsity since sophomores and a couple as freshmen and at a cost of a lot of good players getting cut. This should be their year as one of the better private schools but I just don't see them complet...

STA will never win as long as the Vannelis are at the helm Their track record of getting out coached by less talented teams in the past 3 out of 4 years has been very evident. Granted it is the kids who play the game but not making the proper adjustments during the game and continue to double shift ...

Moorhead should be top 3. Centenial and Elk River should be top 10. Interesting take on Andover at #14, which maybe pretty accurate. Blaine at #19. Got beat by Irondale. Coming into the season, the take on Moorhead was their depth. However, I did not see this during the STA game. Granted it is earl...

I watched STA in the Schwans Cup over the Holidays and thought they had a lot of depth but didn't have any real superstars like years past. I didn't see much distinction between their top 3 lines and all the lines competed well against both Wayzata as well as Edina in the Championship. However, towa...

Don't know who Brokaw is. What's is hockey background? Former MN Blades (AAA) and Providence Academy coach. Current co-owner of Competitive Edge ie Hat Trick Sports training facility in St. Louis Park and has personally trained several D-1 players. Relates well with kids especially those who are de...

What's the history on this coach? Based on the above, it appears they were already negotiating with him before parting ways with Brokow. Do we know more details on why Brokow was let go other than parent involvement?BP wrote:Billy Hengen is back at Providence. That didn't take long to hire a new coach.

What a cheap shot. What's truly sad, is I don't even have to look at the Wayzata roster to know who that was. I have not seen Wayzata play this year, and I haven't looked at the roster, but there's one kid on that Wayzata roster who would do this. Yep, #23 has been like this from early on! I blame ...

Definitely more than 1st line as 5 players with more than 20 points on season and another 4 with more than 10. Of remaining 4 teams top in season goals scored, 20 more than next team. So others be afraid very afraid. Between Breckinridge, Morris/Benson, Wadena, and Wilmar the team had a total of 80...

For the Otters to make it to the X they will need to be sharper in the D-zone than they were Tuesday night vs Sauk. Out of the four teams remaining, FF has the least team speed, but perhaps the most talented top line and arguably the best goaltender. All three remaining 6A games should be crazy inte...

3AA is the weakest conference. Just wanted to share that. Thank you 3AA might be down in overall talent this year, but STA is one of the top 3 teams in the state. Likely have several D1 players in their top 2 forward lines. Good luck to Bemidji in their quest to the Excel Center. Current group of k...

You are correct Pinky. When the current Juniors were 2nd yr Bantams they were arguably the best Bantam team in the State. They lost a heartbreaker in the semi's and eventually took 3rd without Zimmer who was playing Varsity at the time. The core group is still there. However, I personally feel O'Lea...
