Eden Prairie -- Coop with Who?

With Eden Prairie continuing to lose girls to local schools -- This year the 8th grade twins are going to Holy Family and the other big 8th grader (moe) going to Edina, EP's numbers continue to dwindle. There was a meeting this week to discuss Co-op possibilities, but with who? Chaska and Chan are a...

Re: Section Changes

Just a question -- if they do a pin drop for placement, and if St Louis Park moves from AA to A, is there any chance Tonka moves to 6AA and Jefferson goes to 2AA?

If so, what a loaded section that would be with Tonka, Edina, Benilde and Wayzata.

Interesting tidbit I heard this weekend from the Jr Gold Tournament at Edina -- They had 550 kids signed up for Mites. (Boys and Girls) That more than many cities including EP for the entire youth program.

Re: 2025-2026 Schedules

I heard that the PL tourney was planning to be over New Years or New Years Eve next season.

I believe EP has pulled out , as they typically face a northern team (Hermantown) the first Saturday of January, and the timing of Xmas/New Years (Thursday) interfered with also playing up north.

Re: Tonka - New Prague

sadly, the game has to be played. But you are correct, the girls game is somewhat like women college basketball was 10-15 years ago, with only a few teams capable of making state. At some point maybe you play your forwards on D, or let the goalie skate out for a period. Or you work on angles, but to...

There is a way to solve this -- Hopkins has chosen not to play Edina and Tonka, even though they are in the same conference. Not that hard

Re: AA Rankings for 12/29/24

Favorite part of Sunday Morning in the winter 1. Walk the dog 2. Read AA rankings. I went back and looked at last years top 10 at this time. Only 2 remain from LY -- Edina (of course) and Rosemount. I am looking forward to January where the games and rankings should be competitive, and the fact that...

Re: 2024-25 Transfer Watch List

I heard that Tavin Dobchuck, a 9th grade EP resident, who went to school at Holy Family last year was spotted in Tonka gear and may be transferring there.

EP used to have people transfer in, now they are transferring out, and Tonka is getting the transfers

Too Bad the Hermantown role isn't open. He could go there and move the club up to AA

Re: On a lighter note -- Odd MSHSL Transfer Policy

A little more context and sorry I did not post this earlier. I believe there was an issue with a parent of a different wrestler at EP. The family lives on the EP/Tonka Border The kids are homeschooled The senior wrestled for EP last year, as did his brothers. I guess there is no have to sit a year f...

On a lighter note -- Odd MSHSL Transfer Policy

While we all await the section playoffs, I heard something very interesting today, and love to hear others thoughts on it. There is a family in the southwest metro where the son played this fall on the Eden Prairie Football team, and once the season was over, he started wrestling for Shakopee. Famil...

Re: AA Rankings for 2/18/24

Great way to start off a Sunday. Only 2 questions: 1. Why is Edina the 2 and BSM the 3 given BSM beat Edina earlier this year. Granted, the only difference is color of the sweater, and last change. 2. Why do you think Shakopee is the 3 and EP the 4? While it may happen that way, take the Top 3 off t...

The Minnetonka Machine, and where they came from

I have been very impressed with Tonka all season and we have all heard stories about where the kids game from, but apparently here are some details. By the "letter of the law", most players started at Tonka High School in 9th grade, however, most did not play for Tonka in the 8th Grade. Ho...

Re: Games Saturday 2-3-24

I am still curious to see how will Section 2 Seeds 3&4 shake out, and games like today may have an impact Shakopee -- 16-3-1, but a Charmin soft schedule. 3-3 likely in Section play, have 1 top 10 win in Rosemount EP -- 12-6-1 with the brutal Lake Conference tilt 2-2 likely in Section play have ...

Ugly end to the Edina HF game. If you get a chance to watch it on mnhockey.tv, please do so. Go to the 2:15 mark. Westrum (HF Coach) goes after the Edina bench and then goes around to it. Unreal

Re: Games Thursday 12-28-23

If EP can fix their Penalty Kill situation (at 73%), they might make some noise. In their 3 losses: Lose to HM in OT giving up a PPG and a 6 on 5 goal Lose to Edina giving up PPG, SH, and EN Lose to Grand Rapids giving up 3 PPG 5-5 in those 3 games they outscored each team. They will give some teams...

Re: Games of the Night

I will give Holy Family Credit -- They hung in there with Hill for a while. Outshot Hill badly in 1st and had more shots overall I believe. And they came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie it before Hill stepped on the gas. Got the 1st pp goal vs HIll in over 30 attempts. HF is extremely young this year...

Edina beats EP 3-1

Edina scores a PP goal, a SH goal and an EN goal.

EP needs to work on special teams. GR scored 3 goals on PP yesterday, and Hill scored on the PP and 6-5. If they can fix special teams, they will challenge some teams.

Goals were down significantly last year, and they moved assistants around to hopefully modify the situation. IMO what hurt EP last year was no seniors upfront, and it did not appear that they had an alpha to lead the team. WIth the overall lack of kids from the class of 2023 (seniors last year) in t...

Re: 2023-2024 New Section Alignment?

I wish they would treat Private/Charter Schools similar to how they do it in Georgia. Every Private School has a multiplier ( was 2x, now I beleive it is 1.5. So if Mahtomedi's numbers are 1150, they would bump up to 1725, and they would move up to AA without a choice

Re: Winter Storm and Thursday's games

So Prior Lake just went to E-Learning on Wed and Thurs. No athletics are to be played. But Shakopee appears to be adamant about playing on Thursday. My guess is the game moves to Friday... Holy Family does not want to move the game either. Guessing Eden Prairie will go to e-learning. Why these 4 sch...
