Bemidji, CEC over 1100. Grand Rapids around 950. Roseau only real small school. Private schools are another matter. Mahtomedi is nearly the same size as Bemidji, a couple of dozen smaller at 1140 or so. Hermantown and Hill-Murray both have enrollments of 629 students. Both of them pull talent from ...

What about Blake? Wins over Orono and Wayzata. Maybe losses matter in these rankings. Losing to Minneapolis and Blake is not great. So you mean Wayzata losing to Blake and Brainerd [and Hermantown] in their last 4 games should matter, right? Blake is still a question mark for me in AA. I don’t thin...

Class A Rankings 12-31-17
Lots of good holiday action this last week with lots of moves in the rankings. There were such upsets as Minneapolis over Mahtomedi and Alexandria over Greenway, along with Hermantown, Cathedral, Simley and Warroad going 3-0 this week. There are a couple teams ranked below teams they've beaten for t...

They did have a strong showing but moral victories must be the new norm for hill according to you, they could of played in the Open division and got a couple actual wins, My guess is that all of the teams in the Gold Division could have played lower and gotten 2 or more wins. Also, this page might ...

In a strange turn of events, we will be getting a Mahtomedi vs Breck match up in game 3 of the Silver Division, it will just be in the 3rd place game instead of the championship... 5 Cretin-Derham Hall 1 Breck 3 Minneapolis 1 Mahtomedi  Also... 3 Alexandria 2 Greenway  5 Rosemount 1 Vi...

Does anyone know much about Lake of the Woods? They only graduated 3 of their top 10 in points from last year (#2,#4,#5) and return their goalie from last year. They seem to have a mix of seniors and underclassmen scoring, while the two goalies are splitting time. They played 22 games last year and ...

This should be fun. Lots of nice teams. It’s nice to see a big metro school in the tournament this year. :) I am curious about how the organization of the tournament has gone with respect to the teams in it. I believe 3 years ago it was 4 top WI teams and 4 solid MN teams with all of the quarterfin...

Re: Schwans bracketing...
So, #1, #2 and #5 in one bracket and STA alone in top bracket? Maybe this is slotted earlier in the Fall, but wouldn't you bracket this about 7-10 days out and balance brackets for a (theoretically) higher quality tourney? Interested in seeing Centennial...Having seen all the STA and Tonka kids at ...

Class A Rankings 12-24-17
A few big games last week and a few big moves up. With a few more comparisons and big games Mound Westonka and Virginia were the big movers up, but I didn't move anyone down substantially, especially with the week ahead of us. With holiday tournaments and so many common opponents in the top 15, it's...

Virginia looked good against a team that recently tied DE. (Transitive property alert!) I have to believe the Blue Devils are a top ten team. This we also provides us with some more transitive property fodder with Orono losing to Minneapolis...which is why those are always nothing more than fun. Wh...

Last time it was explained (and it doesn’t seem to have changed) the QRF treats every team in a class the same. I don’t know how it works for in class games but all games against a team of a different class are treated the same. Which ends up doing really wonky things in football conferences that ar...

If you transfer to a new high school, you will be eligible for varsity athletic competition if: this seems to imply the student is coming from a high school, where a middle school that goes through 9th grade seems to not fit the intent of the rule. My guess is the AD’s at both the middle school and...

Class A Rankings 12-17-2017
There's a new number 1! At this point you could really pick one of the top 3 names out of a hat and be about to make a solid case for them. Additionally, the only game between the 3 is Mahtomedi in Hermantown in early February. Lots of common opponents though. We have a solid group of 9 teams with a...

Re: SPA
What does "declined the game" mean? If it's on the schedule, doesn't that imply they accepted it and the obligations of it?fastncrash wrote:SPA has declined the Scheduled GAME in Luverne this weekend.
Incredibly WEAK.
Is there precedent for this?

It seems like the larger point is that Class A is down as a whole, and even the top teams aren’t dominant. The main quibble I have regarding the rankings above is that Greenway deserves to be higher , as I’m sure you would agree. Why do you say that? They were the preseason #9, beat the preseason #...

Hermantown is 1-3, not 1-2-1. That said, I have no objection to any ranking that keeps Hermantown at #1 until they lose to a Class A team... which hasn't happened in the regular season in nearly five years now . Two of their losses are top 15 AA teams, and their only win is over a AA team that slip...

Splitting hairs here..... A 1-2-1 should not be #1, no matter their schedule. Three other teams deserve that spot..... Luverne is underated. It is too early to split hairs though, nice job. The surprising thing about Hermantown is that they have allowed 20 goals in four games. That shows a weakness...
