hmmmmm.......
A Hockey star is not someone who takes the temperature, who gauges the marketplace before she reacts. A star is someone who needs to create and is willing to tolerate the haters along with the fans. She’s someone who incites controversy just by existing. That’s what we have lost in the quest to main...

I'm sure they are sorry to see it end, It was a great time for them and in all honesty the two games I seen were early in the season. but what I seen was the quick hard passes from SSM coupled with team oriented play totally destroy the high school teams who had trouble putting togeather any sustai...

finance_gal, are you serious. Not much better then good high school teams? You may have me at a disadvantage since I didn’t make it to one of these games. That was surly my misfortune. However, I don’t think I needed to witness these games first hand to know that it was probably some incredible hoc...

finance_gal/Bitter parents I've always given you the benefit of doubt. After your comment I'll have to say you don't know what you're talking about. The level of play is well above most high school games. I know you're a Thoroughbred lover and what did they lose to Shattuck's by (10-3)?? And haven'...

I've been to 2 of these games, the level of play is that of a couple good high school teams, Not much team play, mostly individuals. The girls that are out there are good players no doubt, but apart from the top 5 to 10 players in the league, all the others could be easily replaced and no one could ...

What hockey people aren’t realizing is that High School girls hockey is on the decline and has most likely peaked in many area’s. There are more CO-OP teams in the state than there are one school teams. Were seeing girls becoming disallusioned because the same group goes to the tournament every year...

People that think defensive players or goal scorers win games are fools!! The thing that is wins games on all levels are the well rounded players, Many great goal scorers won't go into the corners and a lot of defensive players just hang back and wait for the big stop and that just isn't the route t...

More injuries in women's hockey
My Husband just returned from Toronto last night where he was having some custom equipment made for our daughter (injury problems). The company that is making the custom equipment said his business has quadrupled in the past 2 years mostly from women's hockey and ill fitting equipment. Is there more...

Great list!!!! I can see where lots of scores might not be available from Minnesota kids. From the list it appears lots of juniors who would most likely be taking the test this fall, maybe some that didn't need to make test scores available because they already had the interest they were looking for...

There's a story going around that shows the importance of this discussion. Some attending parents can confirm. I heard that of the 4 Minnesota girls teams that went out to Vermont for the NAHA Tournament that only 1 girl, out of over 70, had a ACT score that would allow any of the 30 colleges in at...

I applaud you, your comments show exactly what I have heard from college coaches all summer. Thae ACT score is Just as important as hockey skills, sometimes more important. My daughter attended the University of Minnesota girls hockey camp this summer, In one of their meetings the academic counselor...

My daughter makes nearly every team she try’s out for, not because she kisses up to the coaches or we as parents are well liked, it’s because she plays by the stated rules, and works her tail off. Our daughter didn’t try out for this league, but I can tell you that there’s nothing worse than seeing...

I know fingal and her daughter. It's the kid thats driving the hockey in that family. We see her at the arena asking boys teams if she can practice with them on days when she has nothing going. The girl is driven more than most and loves hockey, I know she begged her dad to send her to some school ...

For years New Hope Arena was one of the better ones in the Twin Cities, The sheets of ice were always full, they made a good chunk of money from the Mighty Ducks movie, and all that profit went back into the general fund. now the arena is getting older and things need to be replaced and we hear whin...

Not offended Rube. It's a discussion forum. I agree with you on the push. I am not advocating pushing any harder because that comes from within. I am also not at all interested in moving to match the boys. This game has dramatically changed on the girls side. What we send them are individuals. It's...

I wouldn't have a problem with coaches having off season contact if it was required that all offseason programs be open to everyone no matter what school they come from, This would open up the very good training programs to kids who come from schools that don't have very good programs and focus on p...

I think coaches should just let go for the summer and let kids enjoy themselves, from what I see during the summer is about half the kids just going through the motions because their required to be there. If a Kid wants a hockey intensive summer there are plenty of people outside of the high school ...

Good comments Goalzilla but the choice might be taken away from girls in the future. Its Minnesota Hockey that controls the destiny of the T-breds or any other organization that wishes to be sanctioned under USA Hockey. Minnesota Hockey balances the need for such teams with the conflict with the HS...

. Also, it is pretty easy to sit back and judge the coaching staff when you are sitting in the stands. The one's that played the game don't live vicariously through their children. They don't criticise others. The highly educated and classly people don't continuously post replies on the forum rippi...
