Re: First-ever Minnesota HS All-Star Prospects Game (Nov. 10)

The lack of St. Cloud State recruits concerns me. There's one at least, but there should have been four. :(

My source is as credible as there is...short of being the kid or a family member of (the kid). In that case, my source is much better than yours. :) The player doesn't know what he's going to do yet. I can state that with confidence. He may be leaning one way or the other and may be talking it thro...

Re: Early Departures 2018-19

As hockey59 Reported recently on a different thread, I am also now hearing with a very high degree of certainty that Brodzinski will be back at Blaine high school this fall I'm hearing he hasn't decided yet and won't decide until just before the HS season. He may be leaning one way or the other tho...

Re: Kennedy soph D Chase Beacom commits to SCSU

BP, assuming you’re talking about Dosan. Hadn’t seen him on the early departure list, do you know where he’s going? Yes - going to Northstar Academy in Alexandria. Who will NCA play against this first season? Is their goal to play MSHSL? Speaking of private schools joining the MSHSL, we gain a team...

Ryan Poehling didn’t exactly set the world on fire his first season at SCSU but he ended up as a late 1st round pick, 25th overall I believe. He played 35 games as a freshman, and it’s important to consider it was under Bob Motzko, as BB also will be. If BB ends up playing 35 games and puts up the ...

Please note that I do not typically add players who've graduated to the Early Departures list. Also, since this is the "high school hockey" forum, I typically don't add players who've departed straight from bantams. For these reasons, Brock Faber and Ben Brinkman do not appear on the list.

• Most Americans who played major junior wish they would have played NCAA D1 instead. Note that I didn't claim they regret their decisions, nor did I imply they would have even had the opportunity to play D1. This fact seems to be pulled out of thin air. Kind of. I don't remember if the tidbit came...

Re: What determines an associations top team placement?!

They play the level that the high school they feed is in. They can opt up as Hermantown does, but many choose not to. Not sure if there is any good alternative. Every association and every district is different. Outstate "A" often looks far different that Metro "A". Same for B1....

NTDP may have closed. But if he is projected as a First round pick, I’m sure they will take him. After thinking about his situation, I could see him accelerating hs next year and going to Denver the following year. Didn’t Poehling fo this? Yes, he started college as a 17 year-old. Of course, that w...

I feel like we have the rating system backwards. The C teams should be labeled "Level 1" teams. The B2 teams would be "Level 2". B1=3, A=4, AA=5. This would be all levels, mites through bantams. For in-season tournaments, you can opt up but you cannot opt down. This would do away...

I was going by the MSHSL page , which lists the co-op as being Irondale, Fridley, and St. Anthony. Perhaps there are currently no CH kids participating? In any event, North Metro splits between Osseo and Irondale at the high school level, which complicates matters. That is correct. There are no CH ...

Actually, it is even more complicated than that. North Metro youth hockey draws from kids who live within the boundaries of Park Center, Brooklyn Center, Fridley, and Columbia Heights high schools. Only Park Center co-ops with Osseo HS, not the whole North Metro association. Fridley co-ops with Iro...

Re: Osseo/Maple Grove - What Happens at High School

TG mainly had a recruiting base in the nearby northern suburbs like Brooklyn Park, New Brighton, Mounds View, Spring Lake Park, etc. The drop off in youth talent from those areas over the past decade has coincided with TG’s own downturn. I know that the current TG roster has several kids from Roger...

Didn't OMGHA have a dustup within the last two years where the MG side wanted to break off from the Osseo side and the Osseo kids would have ended up at North Metro? Seem to recall the reason it didn't happen was a lack of ice in MG. This is correct. North Metro used to feed Park Center HS, but Par...

Americans (and Minnesotans in particular) often start low and climb throughout the year. I think McLaughlin will get drafted the highest, but I predict Jack Perbix and Zach Stejskal will climb the furthest.
