Somebody on here made a comment about the Cullen years and the class involved with Moorhead hockey. I couldn't agree more. Terry Cullen was an assistant coach in Roseau before he ended up in Moorhead. Roseau wouldn't even acknowledge Moorhead as a conteder until Mr. Cullen went to Moorhead after Fer...

hate to bring up the financial aspect - but it is important to this topic. High School coaches don't make a lot of money - many are also teachers - so not huge incomes their either. These summer training programs help them supplement thier incomes, and thereby enable them to coach during the winter...

Re: in the running
I've seen some ESPN coverage of this. Boston, Pittsburgh, Chapel Hill I think, Lawrence. If it is about pro and college Edina has no shot. If Edina has no shot it isn't looking too good for Gilbert, International Falls, and Roseau. Not even if John Harris wins this week on the Senior Tour. Edina wi...

The arena attendant would walk very slowly to the other end to clean it up in the middle of the period. The zamboni never got the chance.
You also had to stop checking in the middle of the game because they would lay there for 5 minutes and get up laughing and high fiving in the box.

I knew you had to walk under the bleachers to get to the locker rooms and back. I meant off the rubber mats. You know... where all the light bulbs were broken. Right before the alley that led to Stu's Northland Tap. It wouldn't have been so bad, but they always picked on the small guys like the Brot...

I never did go under the bleachers, however, we always had to walk out of the locker rooms in groups, so we didn't get jumped on the way out.

Actually, the old Warroad arena and Roseau Memorial weren't much alike besides the general shape of the building. The logs in the old garden ceiling weren't even peeled. Bark was still falling to the ice in the 80's. It was dark in there and dirty. Roseau Memorial had a finished ceiling and ceiling ...

You could always tell when their dad gave them money. They both would have black eyes. He would give it to one of them and tell him to give the other half the money. Well....it usually ended up in a death match. They would fight to near exhaustion and when they had enough, they would go split the mo...

Kittson Central has a JV. No bantams. They cut the bantams and made them JV. Now there are 8th graders playing against juniors.

I saw Roseau's jazz band at a jazz clinic in January and about half the band were wearing Roseau Rams Hockey jackets. Most of them are on the baseball and football team, as well.

Roseau Moorhead
I can see your point. My point is Roseau is a good team and it doesn't matter who they play. You still have to win. Teams that win all or most of the one goal games they play in are usually pretty good teams. Roseau has had quite a few 1 goal games this year. I wouldn't write them off because of who...

I've played a little bit. Didn't Roseau play pretty much the same schedule last year? I'll bet the schedule was similar in 1999 and 1990. Warroad I hate to say it plays a very similar schedule and they've had some recent success. Stephen/Argyle Central has won 5 straight 9 man football championships...

The most effective coaches are the ones kids trust and believe. Whether they are being yelled at, grabbed by the front of the shirt, steel fingered or cuddled. If the kids believe in the coach they will learn. Roseau had one Peewee coach for over 40 years. State titles, national runner up. He will b...

With all the TV coverage, why would you need a rink that seats more than 1800? The Cities faithful could stay in the metro area and not have to deal with the dangerous part of the state north of St. Cloud. There's lots of them thar trees up nort and not a whole lot of dem humans. They would truly le...

Roseau. Spotted Edina to 6 goal lead and come back to beat them in 3rd period in Roseau Memorial, January 1981. State tournament in St. Paul...
