Jr Gold A State Title?
Who is going to compete for the state title this year at the Jr Gold A level?

Looking Grim for EP
Looks very grim for Eden Prairie this year at the Junior Gold A level.
Last Years team had 17 Srs and 10 returning players, and 8 cuttees from the previous years varsity or JV program.
This years team features only 3 returners for Eden Prairie this year, and only 1 JV cuttee.
Last year Eden Prairie had a A, 2 B's and a U16 team.
This year will feature only 1 B team, so the numbers / quality is down.

I predict Wayzata, Burnsville, Blaine, Roseville, Minnetonka, Jefferson, Woodbury, Lakeville and possibly one of the St. Paul Teams will compete for Jr. Gold A.

nope to roseville
Rumor has it that the Raiders of Roseville will be featuring a B team and a U16 team this year. While i think that this B team could compete at A's and do well they are playing down at the B level. Hence my posting on the "this years teams" thread and feeling sorry for the B teams.

Moorhead
Moorhead has a great team this year, we get killed by them every year. Look out

Re: Moorhead
Moorhead lost to Burnsville in the Wayzata tournament. I think that rules them out as a "Great Team" for this year.

Re: Looking Grim for EP
swdude48. i'm familiar with some of the A boys on the ep team. i thought more of jv cuts from 03 & 04 might have stuck around. i've been to the ep web page looking for a roster list...not posted. where can i view one? i think only 2 juniors made the A team. rest are all seniors. also, i believe vince hastings is good coach all around...good communicator etc.

Re: Jr Gold A State Title?
I do think Moorhead is a strong contender. They started out slow but have picked it up and played with and should have beat the so called number one team in the state centenial.

Edina looks the best
After seeing many teams in action recently, I would give the nod to Edina. Their team speed, defense, and ability to play mistake free is a valid asset. However, I also like Wessy's boys as they have several big boys who can really skate and have recently won a tournament over good many good teams.

It chokes me up to admit it but Edina will finish at or near the top.

Re: Edina looks the best
I caught a glimpse of Moorhead last weekend. They played well against Centennial (top rated team in the state). It seemed almost as if the refs were throwing calls to wards Centennial. I was a non bias spectator and I caught on to missed offsides and poor icing calls. I also saw a Moorhead kid check a Centennial kid (good clean check) and the ref called a hit to the head. Blatantly not a good call to make.

Burnsville isn't that strong, look out for the Wessy Boys as they are mostly comprised of players from the Academy of Holy Angels, including a heck of a goalie.

Moorhead...no

The last spots are really going to be a toss up though.

Re: nope to roseville
CoachGuy
Looking at the B standings today - you were dead on with your Roseville prediction. As a B team they are killing everyone else, 13-0-1. 95 goals scored with only 12 goals against.

Who made the decision to let Roseville sandbag and not have a middle of the pack A team?
