Sign of things to come. Could be the rise of the "Private Club teams" maybe even a few AAA Major/Minor Midget clubs. I could see the Blades going National. I paid $350 to the school and another $200 to the booster club for my son last year I imagine it will be going up this year. Don't say it won't happen here, it's closer then we think I am afraid.

The high schools I am familiar with do a lot of fundraising to support our sport. Additionally, hockey is one of the few sports where the field of play (ice arenas) are often paid for by boosters, etc.
Hockey will survive at high schools where there is strong interest by young athletes and their parents.

Be careful not to have your head in the sand... Hockey at every level is going through some sort of change, and high school hockey, even though it may not die, could be in danger of holding it's status if AAA/Midget hockey takes off. When the top players move on in high numbers, what's left may not generate the high level of interest that we're used to. HS hockey won't go away.. but don't count on it being a big sport down the road.breakout wrote:The high schools I am familiar with do a lot of fundraising to support our sport.
