Watch some great 95 Hockey at Ridder This Weekend
The Golden Walleye hockey tournament is back at Ridder Arena this weekend. This is the only Super AAA tournament in Minnesota.
This will be the strongest 95 field in Minnesota this year. The best Minnesota 95 teams are playing (Blades, Breakaway and a combination Iceman/LSS team). Almost all the top Minnesota 95s will be here.
We also have Team Illinois (4th in USA), a combination team of Chicago Mission (11th in USA) and Russell Stover. We also have the best team from Winnipeg. These are the only six teams, so all games will be good ones.
Games go all day Friday and Saturday, starting at 8a,10a,noon, 4p, 6p, and 8p both days. Playoffs are the Saturday night games. Championship game is at 10:00 Sunday morning.
It should be lots of fun.

Sounds like a very impressive collection of talent! Hope it rains one day so I can have an excuse to check it out. Thanks for notifying us about this!
I think this type of "tournament" is much better than the Showcase tourneys where you never know if you'll play really weak teams. Much better to invite the teams you know are truly competitive, rent the ice, set up games and the kids will get a ton more out of the weekend and parents don't have to pay a fortune for mediocre hockey!

Jeez do you ever write anything without throwing a shot a someone or do you think someone will miss your "expert" take on the state of hockey ?Doglover wrote:Sounds like a very impressive collection of talent! Tournament sounds like it would be fun to watch.
and your point?
Check it out for yourself - a lot less money than some of these so called AAA tournaments and a lot more competitive games. Let me know what you think after you watch some games and see if you agree smart guy! Tough to argue with common sense isn't it? Stick around a few years and we'll see what you think then. You'll probably have more experience and definitely better perspective (or not).

I think my point was pretty obvious, as you once AGAIN stand on you pedestal and make commentary on the state of hockey that doesn't pertain to you. It was a simple post inviting/notifying people about what appears to be a very good tournament, leave it at that. It doesn't take experience or perspective to understand that not everyone will be invited to this caliber of tournament so other tournaments are offered. And if those other tournaments weren't popular or worthwhile to some then they would cease to exist ... common sense capitalism.Doglover wrote:and your point?

LA Selects?
Why arent the LA selects coming to the tournament this year? They have made showings the past couple of years.
Hello, is your entire team ready to fly out to LA? Their families already spend approximately $20,000 a year on AAA hockey, per kid, so the travel budget of some families may be tapped. Teams in California already travel more than most others.
I know the 95 Fire went to LA during the winter season to play them along with a couple other strong 95 teams.

LA Selects?
The tournament doesnt seem as high end without LA selects in the tournament field. It would be nice to go watch the back to back national champions.

Stay home and clean your garage. Or do some volunteering for those less fortunate.edina hockey parent 11 wrote:The tournament doesnt seem as high end without LA selects in the tournament field. It would be nice to go watch the back to back national champions.

There is no gate fee.
I do not like to name top Minnesota players, but all the ones you might expect will be there (absent a couple way North kids). For the best Minnesota kids, catch a Blades game, a breakaway game or a Lake Superior Icemen game.
Or should I just name my own kid?

Dont worry you just did. you are a typical over the top youth parent who has no idea how frustrating your future is going to be because your kid wont live up to your hyped up expectations. teach him how to fish.Terry.Moore wrote:Southern hockey guy wrote:[Who are some top '95's to watch and is there a gate fee?...I might make the drive up to watch if it's the calibur of hockey your saying it will be...thanks for the notice...

Amazing! A person comes on the forum and uses his own name instead of an anonymous screen name, with the intention of letting us know of a free local 1995 AAA hockey tournament with potential high end MN teams/players participating at a graet venue. While fielding a few questions, negative comments about his character and his kid are thrown in from the local morons. Why would we do this to someone who was just advertising a hockey tournament?

WOW!!! Flatontheice What an absolute stupid comment!
As said, Terry uses his legitimate name to just share hockey info and you have to make those comments. Terry was clearly was just trying to make a laugh when pointing out his son and you step in!
Brutal!
For your sake I hope you are a 14 year old kid
