In a close playoff game at Amsoil, I like their chances against pretty much anyone in the state.
I don't totally disagree with that... That's also another reason why there should be venue changes and not always played at Amsoil..
I get it, that it's in Duluth and that means East doesn't have to travel. But it's not a home game for them. First of all, East's fans barely come out to see any games and playoff games are no different. Last years section final vs ER attendance wise was a joke. That and the fact that East hasn't played any regular season games there for the last couple years due to dropping attendance makes it about as neutral as possible. They would have the luxury of practicing there prior to playoffs, but that is going to happen whereever the game is held for the closest team. It just happens to be the nicest arena in the area for any of the section teams.
I wouldn't be opposed to some sort of every other year deal though. If they wanted to move the game between Amsoil and like St. Cloud or something, I'd be ok with that.

Here we go again with the Amsoil thing. We at least we made to February this year.
East is lucky for the bounce off the Cloquet skate last night. #5 seed was staring them right in the face.
The site of the final is a non issue this year. In the past 6 years East has had the best team in 5 of those years. Last year ER was probably favored. Small crowds aside I'm sure the players want to play in the big arena. The semis is like a mini state tourney. I may have thought otherwise in the past but you need to win the games no matter where they play it. Bemidji might be stretch.

3 hours for the ER's of the world, 2 and 1/2 for Duluth.
Grand Rapids with the advantage of an hour, but they will not make the finals.
Playing in your home town and sleeping in your own bed instead of a hotel (or traveling same day) is what's considered a home game.. No matter how you slice it.

I had many players on my team (that I would agree with) who definitely think sleeping in a hotel and traveling pumps them up for game more than just showing up to the arena. It isn't as big of a deal as people think it is.

Elliott you are a bitter old man. That early season beat down must still sting. Was Reagan the President the last time Bemidji played in St. Paul?
FACT: nobody else (boys hockey) in the state gets the luxury of playing semi and final playoff hockey right in their home town. Hopefully Rapids gets moved to 8AA next season.

Elliott you are a bitter old man. Yes and no.
That early season beat down must still sting. That was 19 wins ago. A faded memory.
Was Reagan the President the last time Bemidji played in St. Paul? I think he was, what's your point.
It was bait.
As you apparently do not know, there are a lot of us fisherman on this 'bored'.
We throw it out as we troll along and sometimes someone gets upset and bites.
If you have read all of my posts (which is difficult to do); you may have noticed that I hope GR makes it to state. I am not cheering for them to win it all but am hopeful that the bracketing is such that they make the finals.
I have been an Indian fan my whole life (when they are not playing the Broncos, B Lumberjacks, or Rams - in other words my 4th favorite team).
So, to make you feel better, I retract my denouncement of GR in the sections and hereby, in front of the 'bored' and God give my unwavering support to the old Indians in Sectional play.

It would be nice to drop Buffalo, Becker, Monticello and add Grand Rapids, Alexandria to 8AA. (Except it would leave it to DEast to give us two northern teams. DMarshal now also. We can rearrange 7AA at a later date.)

Elliott you should really ask for the guys weight and height to know whether to throw him back or not, then you know whether you have reached your limit!!!!

He's from Rapids, we know his IQ, that alone is enuf reason to throw him back in the cesspool of pokegema.
j/k, you are probably a very bright and charming young gentlemen. Unless you are related to Oleheiser.
