Andover took down Flake 8-2 tonight to lock the 6th seed.

Scary night for East fans... Hopefully they don't show that much offensive fire power in the quarterfinal.

Considering the game is being played at STMA...CEC winning is far from a given. Even though STMA plays some really weak teams like North Branch...doesn't mean they can't or won't win this game, STMA is a decent team. If they do, and beat Woodbury and win the rest of their other remaining games, they won't be the 5th seed, likely 4th, maybe 3rd depending on how DE finishes. And whoever draws Andover isn't in for an easy QTR Final game...Tyler Vold is one of the best players 7AA and Maddie Rooney is a damn good goalie.

Tough year for FL. Long drive to Rapids/longer drive home. Still should a great playoff season !! Anything can happen :?:  :?:

Forest Lake may not be great, but can't be taken lightly. Garcia certainly gave Rapids fits during his career. That matchup of Andover at Duluth East is going to be interesting given East hasn't been scoring many goals all year.

Elk River winning their first game is the only sure bet. I wouldn't bet much money on any of the other games.
Those quarterfinal match ups are wide open.

I'm just going to say it because I think a lot of East fans are thinking it. I was hoping for a FLAKE win last night. I just think Andover gives East more fits and matchup problems than Flake does.

That being said, I am confident that East will beat Andover. Lots of teams progress through the season, but pretty much the whole defensive corp is now different from the first meeting. East still struggles to score goals, but is much tighter defensively.

If Randolph agrees then DEast will get the 2 seed. He has a way of getting the brackets to look the way he wants them.

Curious....why did FLAKE play their back up goalie vs Andover? And did Suess &/or Peterson play?

So now that St. Albert Michaelville beat North Branch 16-0 I am changing my mind about their seed. I'm starting to think the 3 seed or possibly even the 2 seed is the right spot for them.

Elk River's big question this year was goal tending. Meyers has had only 3 goals scored on him the last 5 games, three of which were shut outs. I think he has figured out this level. Props to Coach Roberts for figuring out the answer. Elk River could go all the way.

Good point, clearly ER would need to be the 3 seed if Randolph would allow it to happen.

LOL Not to far from true. Randolph must have hosted a party at some point and he has bad Pictures of a bunch of the 7AA coaches. He seems to somehow influence these guys.

Yup... That is a game we would not like to play but we have to because of conference...

At least we're not like Luverne... After 2 periods 3 seniors and 2 of our top defenseman left the ice, and we played our JV goalie. Unlike the team out West on the 3A thread..

Whew! Thank goodness you stopped at 16, otherwise, that might have looked REALLY bad. Geez, why can't something be done so these games don't have to happen. Hard to build a community program in a place like NB when their HS team is always getting ripped to pieces

One of our parents talked to one of theirs and it's their AD it sounds like anyways.. He somehow thinks that this is good for their kids and challenges them.. They lost their last 3 games like 51-1... That's not good for them... I will say they skated hard until the very end and never gave up.

St. Francis beat NB 10-0...perhaps they should be the #3 or 4 seed....right behind STMA....

Now your all looking foolish talking about a meaningless game . It would be different if STMA people were riding that win like fools but they aren't..

Truthfully our kids don't care who or where they play you need to win 3 games, and get thru more than likely the best unless there is major upsets to get out of sections. So go ahead put STMA in the 8 spot...

In the words of Rick Flair "in order to be the best you have to beat the best, WHOOOoOO"

We will see how things pan out and have some good hockey coming up... ](*,)

You've been very reasonable in your posts, crw. I was mostly trying to have fun with the other STMA dad (My_Kid_Loves_Hockey) with my post. I actually hope that STMA continues to improve because it's more rewarding to win a section with quality teams.

I hope that the Knights are able to improve their schedule in the years to come so that we get a better idea of how good they are. And, similarly to your Rick Flair quote, you only can get better by playing better teams. I can't imagine anyone on STMA improved based on the game against North Branch.

I hope we (East) face you in the finals. :)
