Blowjo,

What inside info do you have on Sartell this year?
Is Alex still losing players to its juniors program, so will their team be fairly young?

Sorry, one more question....did you mean Fergus Falls or Little Falls? LF returns their young second line who did a fine job last year. Their goalie came up big for them during sections to get them to state...don't under estimate them.

Sartell and Alexandria should own this section. Goaltending could be what breaks their backs, however.

Alex didn't lose anybody to their junior team and probably never will. Just looking at rosters it looks like NAHL teams like to have all of their kids out of high school before playing in the league.

4a will be a dog fight to the end. Little Falls will be deep with their soph class. Could be deeper if that kid from Pierz could join his youth team mates, should make the finals of section. Sartel is not quite ready yet, but has some nice players, especially that kid at D, gotta a good target coming up from btms. Alex, will be competitive, jury out on soph class. Fergus Falls will hack and slash its way to the semis, once again jury out on sophs. Wadena is picked as the SPOILER, always find a way to win, better schedule could help. Central Lakes will not be a auto win anymore and CIA will surprise someone, nice soph class with experence and a group of kids that know what its like to win. Also, soph goalie that can stand on his head. Too bad that that PC got shafted by MSHSL. Alex, Fergus are established programs and should be AA regardless. Check their schedule and you might find more AA schools on it than the others.

scottparker,

No offense, but I disagree with your take on Alexandria and Sartell. Both the Alex and Sartell goalies that should be starting this year have been strong in the net, in past years. I don't believe we heard much about these two last year because neither one of them saw much playing time behind the upper classmen (seniors?). Varsity experience is something neither of these two netminders have an abundance of, but I don't think it will "break" either team by any stretch.

We saw both Sartell and Alexandria play this summer. Sartell continues to struggle with scoring, but appears to be getting stronger defensively. Alexandria has similar issues, but seems to need more attention at defense. Just my take on two teams and it was just the summer. Let's see what the season brings.

the sartell goalie didn't play much(he's gonna be senior right? or i'm a year behind) but when he did he was either very good or pretty shaky, IF he's the one thats playing thats whats going to hurt sartell and y they won't make it to state. Sartell is solid all around and they have about 4 people who can find the back of the net consistantly with bidinger, upgren and a few others, although they usually have a few injuries which will really hurt them because they have 2 MAYBE MAYBE 3 solid lines and nothing after so they will most likely have to play short. i say it will be alex and lf in the finals but its too close to really say.

I am the friend of this blowjo kid but any how Sartell has A strong Defensive Minded team and i think thats gna carry them a long way this year now that their in a semi weak Section but The Team thats Gna Win it is Alexandria because of their experience in big Games. They Had a off year last year but was competive in all their games i herd. They are young so I think the Team to beat this year and I think for years to come is Alexandria, and then Sartell. LF they are always in the mix of things.

Hockeylife, I think you may be a year behind. Sartell will likely not have 3 solid offensive lines and while this year's juniors will be the ones that need to find the back of the net, they lost their top forward in Bryant last year to graduation. I know the paper stated last year's team was expected to score 3-5 goals a game...didn't happen.

As far as goaltending, only one goalie played for Sartell last year....and he graduated. So perhaps he is the one that you recall being either really good or really shakey? The #2 goalie saw only one or a few games, but I recall the stats being good...I think he earned a shutout or two.

I think Little Falls will be in the section finals against....hmmm....Alexandria or Sartell.

alexandria is returning 15 varsity players from last year including a goaltender. also they have a very good defenseman named Landon Olson who was on the Select 15 final team along with 3 retruners at defense.

Section 4 should have very good parity this year with Fergus Falls, Alexandria, and Little Falls all playing eachother twice ( or maybe that doesn't start this year..)can someone tell me if Fergus is playing a clc schedule this year......anyway, most likely you will have Little Falls with a big red target on them, Wadena looking for reveng, FF with a big red X on them, and ALexandria as a dark horse, though personally I see them going the way of Willmar in section 4a.....hey, theres a team you haven't heard in a while......Actually this year in section 4, you should have the strongest of any section 4 field. With Little Falls and Wadena having breakout years, the addition of Alexandria and then there's Willmar.....you go from Fergus Falls and Detroit Lakes as the only true section champion competitors to in all reality having any one of the five coming out of the section......Little Falls will probably have the best shot, Fergus should be decent, Wadena always is a spoiler and dark teams are Alex and LF................

Hey, where will the tournement be played this year?????

i think little falls will take it. they only lost 4 seniors off their varsity roster and one was third line. they will definatly be able to hold their own. the flyers second line will be huge for them this year. alex and sartell will be tough but not to tough. it will be a good race in feb.

I am sure Alex turned Wadena down because they are scared. And it wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that they have to play everyone in their conference and have other comitments that are made in advance. Section 4A will be a competitive conference and you never know what can happen in the play offs. Alex shouldn't and hopefully won't look past anyone this year.

Hmmmm....let me guess....you are from Wadena, eh? Don't be so quick to judge other 4A teams. The team you have this year may have taken their Bantam team to districts, but this is high school, buddy. Everything can change.

Whats all the talk about wadena making the dist. playoff with their Bantam team? 8 out of 9 teams did that year. They were seated 8th. They were well below 500 for the season. Talking smack about wadena was alot of fun the last couple years, if your starting now hockeyismylife you are a year to late, unless of course you enjoy crow in your pie. Wadena has a couple exciteing players to watch this year but zero in the depth dept. A great goalie but only one proven defenseman. And the younger pettit will have his day but it wont be a day in 2005= 2006. I see wadena seated 5th in sec 4a playoffs and thats if they can get past lp-sc. They beat long praire in bantams but now they are combined with sauk center.

heres my list

1 Alex - have the most solid team in 4a with a lot of experience coming back from last year
2 FF - this could be there last year in the mix for a while
3 Sartell - have some good players(upgren, biddinger, moir)..... just give em one year
4 LF - last years second line plus ben hanowski and kluver will have to carry them; no defense or depth ...... 2 years out
5 dont have too much after Pettit ..... could be down for a few years to come

warrrior , pettit is exciting to watch however i think you missed 2 other players on that wadena team that are top players, nue in the net and stearns on d. Stearns might be the top scoring d in section 4 this year, and nue as a soph put up some great numbers last year. however they do drop off with experence after that. Your point about Wadenas future might be right on. Program changes from last years huge sign ups might bring them right back to the low numbers they have had to deal with for many years. I feel your pick with alex as 1 is the correct choice at this time, however fergus will be gunning for them , these games should be a great rivalry. Dont see sartell over little falls this year so i would switch them two.

WHy all the hype about Alexandria, seems to me they have been a non-factor in not only section 8aa, (obviously) but also the CLC race................am I wrong??? They shouldn't look past anyone, they should look up to most, but, knowing the alexandria athletes from years of playing them, they are about the most arrogant group of kids around.
THis is how I see it, .............Little Falls and Wadena with targets on them to start with, we won't know how either season will go untill it starts, bottom line, they have to be favorites at this point. Fergus Falls and Alexandria in that second level of teams hoping to come through. Should be a great couple games this year, will tell a lot of how the section willl play out. in the "upsetter's" level I will place : Willmar, Sartell, and Prarie Centre, the rest really is non factor...........possibly switch ALex and Wadena, however the top 4 will be very very close and fun to watch. I don't really see any of the three upsetters moving up, but any top 4 could move down. WHoever wiwns this year will definitely deserve the trophy and should have a good showing at state. Section 4 is definitely no longer the weakest in the state, and possibly could produce a champion or top contender. I don't like how big the CLC is getting and I think it is a detriment to the hockey teams involved especially the one's playing in this section. The size of hte conference dictates that there are a very limited amount of games in wich a team will have a chance to travel the state and compete with top competition, this said, it is very possible that the strong hockey teams in the CLC could become elite teams and almost all have had elite teams in the past, so it will go..............should be fun in a couple months.............

Little Falls defending, and returning champs, won't be as easy for them this year though. alex has gone down hill in the last couple years, but should be a good tournament.

In a comment above about Alexandria, I have to say many feel the same way about Wadena and their athletes, except with Wadena I don't think there is arrogance....just lack of sportsmanship.

Over the years, Alexandria has had many strong athletes go through all of their programs and they remain a major competitor for the CLC title in almost every sport...like them or not....but they won't rule hockey this year, either in the CLC or in Section 4A.
