Texans
It will be Bush, but if they were smart they would trade down to 4 or 5 and draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson, the OT from Virginia. They don't need a QB or a RB. They have Carr, who was a #1 pick just a couple of years ago, and Davis, who has played well for them in the past and his still young as well. They allow a ton of sacks, and Ferguson is a dominating pass blocker. He is the guy that fits in with the Texans the best.
-------------------

Catholics have churches, fat people have Wisconsin, and I have the Pawtucket Patriot brewery.- Peter Griffin

Re: Texans
koren,
i think that picking vince young first would be their best choice, then you can trade Carr (who hasn't been very productive) for an extra pick or two. I think taking Young could only help Dominick Davis and the running game of the Texans. Vince can throw the ball very well and since he has the ability to take off and run with it it forces the opposing teams to bring more guys up into the box to try to keep him from tucking it down. So I have to agree with EREmpire and say Young.

OldTimer

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ockey18 at: 1/9/06 5:16 pm

young, but it'll be bush
-minnhock muckraker-

Re: Texans
Carr had a good year 2 years ago, but this year he had absolutly no pass protection. If Carr gets good protection, he and Andre Johnson make a lethal combonation. He didn't get that time this year. Ferguson will give him time to find Johnson. Having Young does not help the pass protection. In the NFL, having a bad O-line will result in no time for either Young or Carr. They have LB's and DE's nearly as fast as Young, and bigger also. Ferguson might be the best pass protector to come out of college since Orlando Pace came out.
-------------------

Catholics have churches, fat people have Wisconsin, and I have the Pawtucket Patriot brewery.- Peter Griffin

T to the exans
Personally I think Ferguson won't amount to much, but I do agree that Houston should trade down and get some line help and maybe someone on D. I just don't see them doing it.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

EREmpire, now that I think about it it would be smart to trade down and pick up some line help. I just can't see them doing it when they have possibly the three biggest playmakers in college football for them to choose from.

When someone says it can't be done, it makes life a lot more fun.

Beyond the Top 3, this draft doesn't scream STUDS! I don't think their limited amount of fans would be very happy with them not getting either Young or Bush. But I do believe this draft is fairly deep and will provide some good pro players so trading down isn't a bad idea.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Re: T to the exans
the texans have already said they will be drafting Bush. if they do i think they will either try to move davis to FB or trade him for some young talent. what are your thoughts?

Re: T to the exans
I agree with that. I see it this way...
#1-Reggie Bush to Houston (USC)
#2-Vince Young to New Orleans (Texas)

Either Works

Quote:
if they do i think they will either try to move davis to FB or trade him for some young talent.

He is a restricted FA so I can see them making a qualifying offer or whatever they call it and then just taking the compensation if someone else offers him a contract. If noone offers him a contract they can bring him back this year on the qualifying offer (usually a pretty big bargain) or trade him easily. I highly doubt a move to FB because he is tiny. I can't see them keeping Davis & Bush beyond this year because Wells, Morency & Hollings are all young and are pretty good backups. I understand why they are drafting Bush, but the difference between Bush & Young for them isn't that different. Pretty much either they trade Carr or Davis who both have been decent over the past couple years, but nothing amazing. Either pick would be an upgrade in playmaking and whatever they can get for Davis/Carr in a trade would undoubtedly be an upgrade since they have so many holes on the team.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Re: Either Works
Bush is the real deal... I would take him...he is just lucky he will be in the NFL when the revamped big red rolls into LA next September to take care of his trojans

Re: Either Works
take Bush and trade off Davis for some line help. a problem with Bush is he is no that big. he always breaks out to the sides and in the NFL the DE's and LB's catch him. but i guess will see when draft time comes.

Bush, Leinart, Young, Cutler, then Hawk to the Packers with the fifth pick. My predictions.
AHA 2002 & 2005 State Champions!

Re: Either Works
I don't want the packers to take Hawk, they had a great defense last year. #1 against the passa and #4 against the run. I want them to take a back. (Maroney or Drew)

Kodiak
I like Cutler, but explain to me why he should be the #4 pick.

I made a mock draft. Maroney and White went lower than I thought they would go, but this is what I ended up with:

1. Houston- Reggie Bush, RB, USC
2. New Orleans- Matt Leinart, QB, USC
3. Tennesee- Vince Young, QB, Texas
4. New York Jets- D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia
5. Green Bay- A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio St.
6. Oakland- Mario Williams, DE, North Carolina St.
7. San Francisco- Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech
8. Buffalo- Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon
9. Detroit- Mathias Kiwanuka, DE, Boston College
10. Arizona- Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland
11. St. Louis- Manny Lawson, DE, North Carolina St.
12. Cleveland- Marcus McNeill, OT, Auburn
13. Baltimore- Michael Huff, S, Texas
14. Philidelphia- Tamba Hali, DE, Penn St.
15. Atlanta- Ko Simpson, S, South Carolina
16. Miami- Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt
17. Minnesota- DeAngelo Williams, RB, Memphis
18. Dallas- Santonio Holmes, WR, Ohio St.
19. San Diego- Jon Scott, OT, Texas
20. Kansas City- Demetrius Williams, WR, Oregon
21. New England- DeMeco Ryans, LB, Alabama
22. Denver- Rod Wright, DT, Texas
23. Tampa Bay- Marcedes Lewis, TE, UCLA
24. Carolina- Eric Winston, OT, Miami
25. Chicago- Leonard Pope, TE, Georgia
26. Cincinnati- Broderick Bunkley, DT, Florida St.
27. Pittsburgh- Abdul Hodge, LB, Iowa
28. New York Giants- Darnell Bing, S, USC
29. Jacksonville- LenDale White, RB, USC
30. Denver- Daryn Colledge, OT, Boise St.
31. Seattle- Elvis Dumervil, DE, Louisville
32. Indianapolis- Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota
-------------------

Catholics have churches, fat people have Wisconsin, and I have the Pawtucket Patriot brewery.- Peter Griffin

Re: Texans
laurence maroney up in the top 20. lenDale white up there to 29th are you kidding me. Vikings will pick up moroney if he even is left not deangelo williams no way.

Re: Texans
Williams is the better back. Maroney and White have the talent to go higher, but the teams that are ahead of them don't fit well. Williams is IMO the best of the three, and fits the Vikings better than the other two.
-------------------

Catholics have churches, fat people have Wisconsin, and I have the Pawtucket Patriot brewery.- Peter Griffin

Re: Texans
Cutler is the best quarterback in the draft...Maroney the best running back, Holmes the best WR, and Hawk the best DEF

Re: Texans
Cutler I like, and I think eventually he can be the best in the draft. But Leinart will be the best pick because he can come in now and succeed. It will take Cutler and Young a little more time.

Maroney- He will be good, but he won't be the best. The best will be DeAngelo Williams.

I agree on Holmes. He is the best of a pretty weak WR class.

AJ Hawk is very good, and will be a Pro Bowl player, but in the end, the best defensive player will be Mario Williams.
-------------------

Catholics have churches, fat people have Wisconsin, and I have the Pawtucket Patriot brewery.- Peter Griffin

Overrated
I think Cutler is overrated much like Kyle Boller and J.P. Losman. He just didn't impress me when he played and seems like another one of those guys that have the tools, but not the intangibles. Leinart is the best QB in the draft, Young is the best "QB".

Williams is the best RB, Bush best "RB". I'd take DeAngelo over Maroney all day for the Vikes.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls
