The roster didn't show the schools for the Select 16 section 1A/1AA team. Anyone know where Joe Gustafson, Will Lueck, Josh Buck, Tyler Anderson, Brad Foster and/or Tyler Bruggeman played this year and what positions they play?

Iceburg, they had a supplement insert for the rosters. I know Gustafson and Bruggeman are from Mankato West

How come 3aa/2a got to have somewhere around 25 kids on their roster, and were there that many playing or just that many listed?

I think that they listed their alternates in the program while the rest of the teams did not.

ADVANCE 17 6A/6AA

How did they finish up? I was really shocked to see them lose to 3A/2AA on Friday. That roster is just loaded!

Possibly selfish play in an attempt to impress evaluators?

I saw some of the 17's this weekend.
I was not really impressed most of the time.

I think it's hard for all these players to bring their special talents together with a lot of other special players and make it work.
IMO that's what makes these players special on their respective teams.
Once in a while there would be a great break out, or transition play, or scoring play, that looked really good, but other times a lot of confusion.

Breakout... you may be right "trying to impress evaluators" over playing a role.

I'm sure each one of these select players' home teams have some grunts that go unkown and under appreciated banging in the corners mixing things up that set up the plays for these players with all the "Stats" that get them to these select deals, and then once there they all look normal because the key ingredient is missing....the unselfish player..he's the one with all the cuts and bruises that they don't keep stats on.
I couldn't believe the # of players afraid to go in the corners.

I would also say there are some players that had no business there at all if it's truly based off talent and skill....and not who ya know!

But I guess a good money maker for Mn Hockey... what? 20 some kids go on out of maybe 150. Plus ticket sales.

Just my 2¢

I guess I tend to disagree with you. The fact of the matter is that most of the kids are very good players and good players tend to neutralize each other. These exceptional kids put up huge numbers against weaker competition all winter and that is the reason for this weekend. To put the better kids against like competition. Granted, the muckers were not on display this weekend and those that did mix it up and play unselfishly have some self satisfaction that the way they play can be successful. I watched one game where 3 of a teams 4 goals came directly off a turnover caused by players separating the puckhandler with a check Will these kids make the cut...probably not, but I think most of their HS coaches appreciate what they bring to the table. What I like watching over this weekend is if each kid plays to his strength and who competes the hardest.

I would hate to be an evaluator who has to make the decision whick kids go on to the group of 51.

Don't get me wrong I know "most" of these kids are players...I just was not as impressed as I thought I would be...you are right that very good talented players can neutralize each other...but they can also support each other.
You would hope they would mix it up enough to include an equal percentage of the players that make those hits and dig out those pucks, that create the plays and not just the guys with the #'s.

On the # of players that go on....

I thought the program stated that they would take 19-23 players....but I have always heard of the final 51 too ??? what's up with that or did I miss something.

Good luck to all those that advance !
