1. Orono
2. Breck
3. Blake
4. Mound

I really think that the young talent of Breck and Orono this year is better then most of the teams in this section. Breck has lots of returning skaters with sophmores this year in Borer, Born, and Fulton. Rehkamp and Reid Herd will also be very good. Questionable on D yes but who is not in this section??? Orono will be good first line and possible decent second line. Lots of scoring up front in Barnum, Persian, Hanson, and Skoog. The question at Orono is D. 5 of 6 return in Smith, Giesler, Fisk, Hanson, and Ylitalo with Walker rotating in, but no one can replace a McClure like last year obviously. I'm pickin Orono and Breck in the Section Final with orono coming out.

I guess I tend to agree with this. I think they probably have the strongest top two lines in the section. Do they have any up and coming Freshmen of Sophmores or are they depending on all upperclassmen (Persian, Skoog, Hanson, Barnum)?

I dont know too much about Orono as of right now i know ylitalo is a sophomore who played last year as a freshmen and i have no idea how their bantam teams did last year. The way i see it is it's going to be depending on mostly upperclassmen.

Sorry Hocker, while I agree with your predictions for the top 4, I have to beleive that Breck wins this one just like they did last year. While Orono will have ONE very good line, the Mustangs will have 3 very fast, balanced and potent lines with enough depth to get quality shifts on the 4th line as well. Not to mention that they will have one of the top defensmen in the Section in Reid Herd. Losing McClure will be huge for Orono as he skated half the shifts last year. We will get an early preview of this matchup in just three weeks (Dec 1) @ the fabulous Breck Anderson Ice arena!

Not matter how much we'd all like to count them out, it may not be wise to take those big green blake teddybears to lightly. :D

I will be in attendance for the Orono Breck game for sure this year. Should be a good one. Also can't wait to see Orono and Mound this year those games get pretty good, its a pretty good old rivalry. :D :D :D

Delano had to create a Junior Gold team because there were too many players. I think around 57? The typical number is usually 40-45 a year for Delano.

What were the scores of the 2A teams this weekend? I know Orono and Mound played... scores?

I know mound beat eveleth 8-1 or 2 and hibbing 2-1 good outings for the whitehawks. Orono beat Dodge County 8-1 and actually a pretty decent Monticello Stars team 5-0.

Orono had two solid games with pretty balanced scoring. The Monticello game seemed like a penalty fest! Hard to beleive anyone in this section will have a better 1st line than the Spartans. The only one that may come close is probably Blake. Challenge for Orono is depth. They have a decent 2nd line but it falls off pretty hard and fast after that.

Blake beat Delano 4-3 in ot. after falling behind Delano 3-1 in the third. Blake called a timeout with 1:11 to go in the 3rd, and came out flying scoring two goals in the last minute. Then Birkholtz (sp?) scores in o.t. for a hat-trick and the Blake win.
Blake then beat The University school of Milwaukee 3-2 in o.t. for the championship win of the Bob Nelson Thanksgiving tourney.
Delano shuts out Chisago Lakes 3-0 for third place.

Breck also lost to Duluth Marshall 6-3 and I know Mausolf for DM had a hatty. Scoring for Breck was Born and Borer and can't find who else. Herd was out for most of one of the periods with a check from behind.

What's wrong with Orono and Blake this year????? Both are losing to teams that they should be beating?

Who has Orono lost to from Section 2A other than Breck?

Blake.

The better question is "who have they beaten with a winning record or that is ranked?

They are only 5-7-1. The games they have won were against some pretty light teams. While they were close in games with Wayzata and Warroad, they simply have not beat one quality team yet this year. Many had them as preseason favorites. It just seems that they have too much talent to not be having more success.

No question. They are a good team and should find more success in the second half of the season.
