Maybe the Skippers didn't purposely go into "prevent mode", but rather BSM started playing like they are capable of playing and just took it to Tonka.

Before we take away Mike Lee's Vesina trophy, Lets see how Mr. Meyers handles his first capacity crowd at the X, little was mentioned of EP's five goal performance just a game ago.

Meyers is Pauly's hand picked goalie, and it has been embarrassing to watch how he not allowed Meyers and Shibrowski's to compete on fair basis this year. Come Tourney time I would go with the maturity and poise factor of Shibrowski vs the overly confident Sophy. But its just my two cents. Best of Luck Red Knights.

You know nothing about the goalie situation at BSM. So please don't speak of that which you do not know. BSM has 3 goalies all of which could be starters at most any other team in the state. And all 3 had the opportunity to showcase their talents. Ankeny played against Hill Murray and tonka (the first game). Shibrowski played against Stillwater and a number of other conference games and all played in some JV games. The rotation was such that people where wondering when it would end. It did when Meyer stood on his head against Shattuck. I think Pauly felt Meyer was the best of the 3 from the beginning but he still made him proof it and I think most would say he did.

I would say a combination of both. Tonka looked a lot like Jefferson last week against Burnsville in the third period.

Obviously BSM played a part but I think anyone that's seen both teams play more than 5 times each would note the same - that MHS played not to lose in the 3rd.

Tonka was only playing 4 defensemen, on that big sheet they were getting plenty winded by the 3rd period.

All 3 goalies are capable and i wouldnt be surprised to see one of the other 2 playin at least one of the games at the x

This game for me took time to develop, the first period was a little slow and sluggish as it seemed like the teams were just trying to get a feel for the ice and atmosphere, however i enjoyed the game from the second period on. It seemed as if BSM just left alot of gas in the tank for themselves in the third as they controled most if the period. You just got the sense that they would score and take it into overtime. all in all a very good game to watch, i would of liked to see tonka pull it out but congrats to BSM.

You may want to look at the opponents in generating that GAA, particularly for Shibrowski. Meyers will start every game going forward. No goalie controversy, Meyers is simply the best goalie at BSM.

ankeny played against hill and tonka

congrats to 6aa for playing such a competitive tournament this year. 4 overtime games including both semis and the championship. nice job boys. gave us something exciting to watch. gotta love section time in minnesota.

John Gardner must be going nuts today, keeping his son"home" to play with Max and then to lose it all. Jake had a great year, needs to decide which postion he should play, sounds like he needed to PLAY DEFENSE, yet continues the offensive show. Cost him last night.

The only reason this was a good game was because it went into overtime. I thought BSM looked sluggish, slow, and unmotivated until the third period. I think it was their gameplan to put Tonka to sleep and than come out fired up in the third.

Also, if #18 is going to UMASS...It seemed like #14 was out there in the critical and key moments of the game.

This game was average...Edina - Burnsville was an outstanding game! The second best I have ever seen, next to East-Apple Valley.

What do you mean stayed home?

The game last night was great. Typical HS playoff hockey energy at Mariucci.

The Red Knights played with HEART all night long (despite a less than stellar second period).

Too bad that Tonka will not be at the Big Dance but B-SM deserves to be there.

I disagree here. I thought the best of the 4 goalies we saw was definitely the Burnsville goalie. Don't get me wrong, I thought Meyers played great too and made some nice saves. But that Burnsville goalie played outstanding and is the main reason Burnsville almost pulled off the upset. He made some great saves during regulation and overtime and really seemed solid in that net controlling all his rebounds. Anybody know his name and what he's doing for hockey after high school?

A great game, especially the first and third periods. If there is one thing I took from this game was...Jake Gardiner, WOW. Wisconsin got themselves a player. The only reason BSM won the game was the below average play of there goalie. I haven't seen them play before this game but is Buonomo there starting goalie? He looked really shaky and BSM's goalie did not. This was a great game and apart of one of the best double headers ever.

I'll go a step further and say this was the best double header ever, state or section game. Benilde's goalie makes them a contender. I always seem to find that one player that I just despise at the state tournament... #12 from Benilde is that player this year. Kids a hack.

I would agree #12 was a hack. I would pick #23 to dislike.

#14 is Nate Jensen. He's a very underrated player and I think is their best defensive defenseman. I hope he's getting some good looks from coaches because I'd like to see him play for a big school someday.

Slap Shot, are you saying Minnetonka purposely went into a defensive shell of sorts and just wanted to play defense in the 3rd? If this was orchestrated by the coach it obviously backfired on them.

Minnetonka deserved to win last night (and I am not a Skippers fan). Gardiner fired a shot at the end of the second period that went in and off the rail and back out as fast as it went in. No one seemed to realize he scored. It would have made it 3-0 and left Benilde's come back one short. What a terrible way to lose when officials miss a goal!

Gardiner is the real deal in every aspect of his play. I still can't believe no one even asked for a review or talked about it.
IT WAS CLEARLY IN, I had a great angle on it and so did those around me. We were dumbfounded.
