That was one of my favorite dad/son moments when I would ride into work with him on the summer mornings - we would both sing it together with them.
This father son moment was brought to you by Kraft.
Not even a thanks. Republicans, sheesh....

when Polly's in trouble, I am not slow.....it's Hip, hip, hooray and away I go.

There's no need to fear! Underdog is here!
when criminals in this world appear
and break the laws that they should fear
and frighten all who see or hear
the cry goes up both far and near
for Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who rob or plunder
Underdog. Underdog!

when in this world the headlines read
of those whose hearts are filled with greed
who rob and steal from those who need
to right this wrong with blinding speed
goes Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who rob or plunder
Underdog. Underdog!

Here's something most dont know... unless you are like Govs and have the 10 CD boxed set of jingles for your easy listening pleasure

Barry Manilow worked as a commercial jingle writer/singer. He penned many of the jingles that he performed, including those for:
Bowlene Toilet Cleaner - "bathroom bowl blues"
"Like a good neighbor, State Farm Is there"
Stridex- Give your face something to smile about
I am stuck on Band-Aid

His singing-only credits included:
Kentucky Fried Chicken - "have a barrel of fun"
Pepsi- "join the Pepsi people"
Jack in the Box
Dr Pepper "Its the most original soft drink in the whole wide world"
and the famed McDonald's "You Deserve a Break Today" campaign.

Manilow won two Clio Awards in 1976 for his work for Tab and Band-Aid.

Here's a single song wherein many of his jingles are mixed together. Should bring back memories for those around in the 70's. Click on A Very Strange Medley to hear it on this free site. http://www.rhapsody.com/barrymanilow/live

Govs, B-Dat knows about Barry Manilow, nuf said. I was going to post about Manilow(having once been a huge fan) but I'm a female, so it's okay if I know that stuff. I even have that medley around here somewhere.....on vinyl  ----at least I didn't say 8-track
