The ponies look to be off to a fast start but I wouldn't say the competiiton over the past few days has been stellar. Have they ran into any solid competition yet? They are in our district and I would like to get a gauge on how strong they are this year.

If Stillwater still has Zach Sikich as their goalie trainer, scoring on them will be tough. However, wins over Irondale, Tartan, and Roseville aren't a good indicator of greatness. Roseville was a good team last year, and did beat Eagan early this season - so I would say that this was a DECENT win for Stillwater.
At this very early point in the season, I'd say Stillwater might be a top 20 team in the state - but I'd like to see them play teams like Minnetonka, Edina, OMG, and DE.

I think the scores were:
Thunder bay win over EP 5-4
Thunder Bay win over Elk River 4-1
Thunder Bay loss to Wayzata 6-2
This was from their website.

The start of District 11 league play.
DE 10
Hermantown 0
It was the Hawks first game of the year so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

How is the Stillwater A Bantams looking so far? They had a good defensive group of kids last year from what I saw.
They also had a very good center, I believe his last name was Johnson.
Haven't seen him yet Mr. Johnson

4 to 1.. Hopkins will do better down the road. Probably put it in cruise control after 1.5 periods.

Hopkins just came out ready to play. First two goals of the game were in the first three minutes. It was even after that. Hopkins came out of the locker room for the third and put the next two in again in the first three minutes. Pretty even again after that flurry.

CINB lost to forest lake 10-4 and it was 6-4 after 2 periods.
CINB lost 8-2 to champlin park but outshot them 27-26
CINB tied Spring lake park 4-4, gave up tying goal in last minute of regulation.
CINB beat Irondale 5-3
Will scrimmage Irondale again this weekend at Isanti Arena.
With improved play at the goaltending position, might surprise some teams this year...

I don't believe Htown is losing any bantams to high school. Senior laden team should do well.

Can't buymelove,
sugar coat this anyway you want to, forest lake quit putting score up after 10 goals they said 12 or 13 champlin park up 7-0 after two, think they were told to quit shooting, pass the puck some.....spring lake park never had a bantam A team till this year, and irondale.......now I will give you even though CINB lost 6 of the most talented group that has come up through the ranks together, a lot of district 10 bantam teams are down this year, blaine losing their best two to high school, centennial taking 10 first years, elk river losing a top goalie to high school and new teams at A level princeton and spring lake park, you better get back to us after your first game monday night against blaine. I guess number 26 will put up 5 goals himself.....what I've heard around district 10 is CINB should have been B1 and B2 this year no A and B1.

If they improve and the scores get closer over the season that will tell you that they are playing up to the competition. Who's improving? A team that's playing weak competition or a team playing stronger competition? Why do you think AAA teams travel so far for games? The CINB players will be among the most impoved skill wise by playing these teams in my opinion. They will have some rough games though....

sneakyfast, i was at the forest lake /CINB game and they only scored 10.
They don't know what they are talking about.
It's tough when the goalie has only played 8 months.
About 4 of their goals were rebounds...He needs to cover those.
Live and learn.
Against champlin park, the goalie dug himself a hole early. letting practically every shot in. It was ugly. He did play much better in the 3rd period though.
Blaine will be a challenge for sure, but i've heard they are not as strong as in the past. This CINB team would be a good B1 for sure. Most of the parents wanted this team to play B1. But unfortunately the head coach and board thought different. The kids have been working hard and are up for the challenge. They may not win much in districts, as long as games are close,
Who cares...If not, then it's all on the coach and board for allowing this to happen. It's all about developing at this age. They will get a taste of where they need to be when they play elk river and the rest of the power associations. no sugar coating, just telling it like it is.
