So, what, 109 minutes of playing time thru 5OT? Those kids have to be sucking wind at this point.

57 SOG per side thru the 5th OT. Naw, I'm sure they're cool and calm.

Back in the day, those were the kind of games I'd go off to an empty part of the arena and stay by myself... Never had to endure more than 2 OTs though.

One missing piece of the playoff puzzle.... Sleepy Eye at Fairmont game was postponed to Wednesday.

Cooper vs. Minneapolis West

Tom Youngans team won 2-0.

The real story for me was watching TJ Mosley freshmen goalie for MW, make 38 saves in the shutout.

Cooper was definitely the better team, outshot them 38-18 and had at least twice as many good scoring chances.

THE REWARD:

Minnetonka on Thursday Night!

Season ends for the state's #1 and #2 scorers tonight ... DL Junior Tanner Lane and SF Senior Joey Benik.
Couple of impressive 90 pt seasons.
Best of luck to both players.

Shows it takes more then 1 player and a weak schedule to win games!

It has been only the first day of playoffs and we have already been shown why we have the best high school hockey and this is the best time of the year. There were so many exciting games with thrilling wins and heartbreaking losses. 8 seeded Cloquet taking 1 seeded Elk River to OT! and (this game maybe not the same amount of caliber bust still exciting) Waseca Underdogs to Northfield and jump out to 3-0 lead and Northfield tying the game with 11 seconds to go. And Bemidgi and St. Cloud Tech go to 6 Overtimes!!! that willl be rememberd forever, nice job guys..

Great game, for sure. And not to take ANYTHING away from the two teams, but shockingly, it wasn't the game of the night in high school hockey. That happened in Wisconsin (yes that's B league for sure, I know).

But the game of the night was #1 seed and WI superpower Superior going 5 OTs with a #5 seed River falls team. Score was 2-1 Superior in the end. River Falls goal came off a faceoff with 3 seconds to go in the second (goal as time expired). Then a RF player broke the glass with a slapper in OT to give the teams a solid rest. Basically an epic game. No doubt likely better than the MN game.

And on a similar note... based on a couple of different reports I got, it appears that Two Harbors, the bottom seed in section 7A with a record of 2-21-2 going into their road game with Greenway, overcame a 3-goal, third period deficit to knock off the Raiders 6-5 in overtime.
