And, Grand Rapids will not make the finals. Playing pretty much a single A schedule this season will get you nowhere in sections.

While I'd be perfectly happy if you're right, you may want to check GR's SOS again: http://www.minnhock.com/strength.htm

If any of the 7AA contenders play an "A schedule," it's Cloquet...

Dan shutup. You dont know what its like to NOT see East go to state. You probbably have never heard of "Pat Whites Penalty Box Special" or "What can Brown do for you?"
Dont jinx this game.

Wise words there. Dan would do well to pay heed.

Use Lee's reverse jinx method; he is a master of that art.

My posts have no logic. They come from pure emotion and rage for how much I hate GR and Duluth Cenfeld.

He's right, Dan. While I'm sure they laugh at you on the other Forum you post at, here it's mainly an irritation.

Time for Remedial East Hockey of the Late 00s 101.

2006: East is the #1 seed in 7AA. They face Cloquet in the semifinals. Cloquet scores a fluke goal in the first period, and goalie Reid Ellingson shuts down the Hounds from there. East goes home.

2007: East is the #2 seed in 7AA. They face Grand Rapids in the semifinals, having beaten them handily in the regular season. The game goes to OT. Patrick White of Grand Rapids buries the game winner. East goes home.

2008: East is the #1 seed in 7AA. They face Cloquet in the semifinals. East goes down 4-1, comes back to take the lead 5-4, then gives up the tying goal...David Brown's 3rd of the game. Then this happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLqaY77M ... er&list=UL

Not a great angle, but it gives you an idea. That was how my senior year ended. And I still can't see the effing penalty.

Don't take anything for granted. Know what you're up against. And for heaven's sake, make sure East fans 1) actually show up, and 2) actually make noise. This year has not been good for either of those.

I can see why you be upset after looking at the video. Both players get tangled on the goal line at about the 18 second mark. CEC player falls, ref makes the call. Not a good call IMO. At that point of the game, calls like that shouldn't be made. It was a harmless play so keep the game going.

But that is not what happened, that was 3 years ago and East and their fans have bounced back since; however, they will never forget.

Best of luck to both teams. Image

That was one of the top 5 games I've ever been to. The 2007 semi-final where Tyler Johnson beat ER on a breakaway with a minute left and a broken collar bone was insane.

Yes, that one was incredible. He spent the entire game floating uselessly at the blue line, then cought the breakaway pass at the right moment.

That game was immediately before the East-GR semifinal...you can't tell me that wasn't in the Hounds' heads as their game started.

I know. I'm an underclassmen, but I am the loudest one there usually. I still have not missed a home game. The senior class this year really dissapoints me. It's kind of the schools fault to. They never announce when the games are being held, and everyone already thinks we are going to state no matter what. At the Cloquet game East students took up half of the arena. It was a big crowd, but still no noise. Except for the occasional chant of "E....H....S..." Hopefully sections will bring a lot of noise.

Yeah, from what I've seen the potential is there. Someone just has to take charge and coordinate things. It'd be embarrassing if East gets out-cheered at a section playoff game in Duluth.

Easy penalty call for the ref. East guy takes the Cloquet guy down near the Cloquet goal line creating a turnover. You have to make that call.

Well if no "upperclassmen" will coordinate things I defenitly will be mad... and take matters into my own hands. :D
