Now -- lets get back to the winter season..........and see how OMG's Squirt A's (where a good chunk of the Synergy team plays) do against Edina, Rosemount, Elk River, WBL and EP in a couple of weeks at the EP tourney
OMG and WBL held a scrimmage in Maple Grove about 3 weeks back with WBL winning 5 to 1

Someone put up the following over a month ago,

1. Edina
2. Elk River
3. Andover 4
4. Minnetonka 5
5. Wayzata 6
6. Eden Prairie 3
7. Centennial
8. Stillwater
9. Grand Rapids
10. WBL
Everyone on the list is pretty solid, alittle movement in the top 5, Edina unbeatable again this year based on depth of the team. EP moved to 3 from last tourney.
Remove STMA from top 10, maybe OK in D5, can not keep up with other teams no depth, they have one good player from the orange koolaid.

WHat is now after 1-2 tournaments and a couple of league games?

I wouldn't take too much from the loss, District 2 has some very strong teams this year.

Results from the EP tournament

Eden Prairie 1
Stillwater 1

Sibley 3
Rosemount 0

Folks are saying the Grand Forks team will be a test for Edina.

GF has a strong line for sure. Not sure how deep they'll be though.

Even given the natural inconsistency of squirts, I think there'll be a big churn in the "top 10" after this EP deal.

Sibley made Rosemount look like the Irish are maybe top 20 if lucky, although I sense that they were off their game. They looked lackluster in warmups. Three goal margin will likely be huge in this tournament among the contenders.

Stillwater gave EP a good tweak on the nose in the second, but EP came back with some anger in the third and got robbed by a good goaltender and a fat pipe.

IMO, Sibley had the deepest of these four teams. (Agree with YHH's spidey sense on Sibley.)

Looking forward to seeing OMG, GR, WBL, and whether Edina has any weaknesses at all. Praying for Mankato and Alex to have fun and not get beat up too bad as outstate question marks.

GF is getting a lot of hype. I love the line about "inconsistencies of Squirt hockey"...I chuckled....SQA hockey can see some of the biggest swings in comparative score. Look at Fargo scores the last two years, there is a head scratcher a minute up there. That is what makes it so exciting.

Alex will be respectable this weekend.

We are running a live blog this weekend with updates on scores for this tournament:

Would love your feedback on whether you guys like the idea and if so, what tournaments we should follow?

Having seen all the teams in EP tourney, I think the semi-finals are just about right, except maybe Grand Forks gets left out of the hardware because they were in Edina's bracket. (It was going to happen to anyone.)

WBL and OMG were a toss-up, though I'd give the edge to OMG -- OMG showed the most hustle of any team in the tourney. Great goaltending in both nets.

Some really good teams will go home with some humility after this one is over.

WBL beat OMG 8-4 tonight in the 3rd place game. You might wanna give the nod the other way.

We never really got a score on the WBL/Mankato game from Saturday Night. The EP website says that WBL lost to Mankato 8-1. This almost seems impossible, my guess is it was the other way around...can you confirm?

It was a great tournament...some very nice teams this year at eh SQA'S level.

Edina 7-1 over PL last night.

PL went up 1-0 early in the first. The PL fans were going crazy.

The Edina kids move the puck really well...a credit to their coaches.
