Yes, our state uses out-of-state evaluators to send players from our affiliate to the District camp. I'm not sure why that automatically means favortism. In almost all cases, these evaluators have no clue who any of the kids are.

The evaluators we use are NCAA coaches. D1 assistants, an occasional D1 head, one D2 head (that narrows it down pretty much!), and D3 guys. Some have come multiple years and others come just once.

So you are using out-of-state evaluators in Minnesota and they show favortism?

Our PD guy just stepped aside after 8 years or so. His work has been emulated by other affiliates, so it sure seems like he's done a great job. Still, there are annual complaints. Always from parents of those that don't make it through!

I know the process isn't perfect but how do you miss a kid that did stand out, I know people don't like putting kids names out there but I have too on this one. I watched all 6 games of the GOLD. Ryle MaCann, no I'm not his dad or mom, brother, uncle, aunt. I thought he did everything to make the next level.

They are evaluated on more than games. The minute they sign in till the minute they leave they are evaluated constantly,practice,off time, meals and Class room.

I know not even you believe that. The list may not be "final" but it's darn close. What they do, or don't do, off the ice, does not matter.

Anyone know how Ausmus is doing? I heard he got banged up in a AAA tourney last weekend. Hope he is okay and able to participate in NY pre-camp.

No talk about physical play during St Cloud. Games seemed to be called really tight and weren't very physical, imo. I imagine kids afraid to get penalties and the focus is on skills?

Looks like Christiano Versich is second in scoring after two games with 2 goals and 3 assists. Also Tom Novak from STA is tied with eight others with 4 points.

Will Garin has joined Christiano Versich in the top 6 after 3 games with 5 points.(Versich with 6)
Rem Pitlick, Tanner Tweten, and Tom Novak close behind with 4 points.
The Minnesota boys doing well, good for them.

So it sounds like Rem did belong there !! So much for all the nay-sayers.

I didn't see many Rem detractors on this thread - maybe one. The kid is highly skilled and is very effective in spite of his size.

Novak is a Wisconsin boy, qualified through Central District. In fact, top 3 forwards from around here, Versich, Garin and Novak were all Wisconsin Fire players. Other Fire players representing well are Alec Baer, Evan Robert and Colin Saccoman. Keep it up boys! We are proud of you!

I watched a bunch of the games and the Minnesota kids looked good. I didn't see any kids that didn't belong. Most of the kids from other areas are bigger and not as skilled skating and stickhandling. The MN kids seemed to see the game and make good plays. There were a couple of Studs that dominated the game but I think that over all our kids made a splash in the festival. Sorry to See Matthew Freytag break his wrist in the last game in the early part of the game on a cheap hitf from behind .
What an awesome experience. The pace of play was incredibe and my son said the instruction was great!! What a great week.
