Looks like Team MN needs Detroit to come back and beat Chicago in the 3rd period. Chi is up 2-1 after 2. If Detroit wins or ties MN would be in. C'mon Detroit!

What could get interesting is if Chi wins there would be a 3 way tie for 3rd at 7 pts between MN, Boston, and Chi. Chi holds the tiebreaker over MN, MN holds the tiebreaker over Boston, and it appears Boston holds the tiebreaker over Chi.

1) Greg Dornbach. He played for the U.S. in the World Junior, did well at college (Miami), and played on the state title team in 1984. He probably won't get interviewed like Draper, but he is surely qualified to coach 10-year-old hockey.

2) Edina.

3) No.

4) I don't think so. I have been told all players, with the exception of a goalie, regularly attend all practices. So they are basically local.

I don't care if you want 100% anything, but I've got to ask. Do you want 100% New England kids on Boston, 100% Illinois kids on Chicago, and 100% Manitoba kids on Winnipeg? Seems like you should. Just be sure to raise a fuss that they are reliant on players from Florida and Colorado in order to round out a competitive team. And be sure to never get over the fact a Floridian led the tournament in scoring two years ago when he played for Toronto.

but some of the involvement of intrest and passion for 10 yr old hockey is creepy and a microcosm of why youth hockey in mn is so nuts. Try to bring up this topic to a friend who knows next to nothing about youth hockey and take in the response when you tell them about dropping $10 to watch youth hockey on the internet on a beautiful & hot july 4th week.

they would have the same reaction if you told them the excel sold out every year for HS hockey trnmnt. If you enjoy hockey then wacthing thes 10year olds is not only entertaining but outright impressive. Those are some seriously good players and teams.

another point >>>i hear more than half of CT yankees are from NY.(not doing well but nobody complaining about that)

4-0 final against BC. 3 out of the 4 final teams are from Division 2.
I will give our boys credit, they did battle hard and represented Minnesota well.
Now who do we cheer for?

Congrats to team Minnesota for a good showing. They were competitive and battled hard in all their games....They should stand tall!

Hopefully more parents will let their kids try out for next years Brick.....although I wouldn't hold my breath.

My feeling is Toronto will win it. Should be a fun game to watch.

I'm with sourgrapes. Hopefully more parents will allow their kid to try out next year. Now that I have had a chance to see the tournament, and know that I will get to watch it again next year, it would be nice to send our best and see how a group of MN top 10 year olds would stack up.

For next year's Brick team, I'd like to nominate the old goalie to head the selection committee. I would have volunteered myself, but I can be bought and I would would have put my own kid on the team whether he deserved it or not. Can I get a second?

Dad, the Minnesota team is formed in a similar fashion as all the other teams.

Second...the northern TC metro judgement can't be questioned and if OTC can give a global perspective the score card can be validated by USA hockey. Good call and good luck to future Mn Hockey activities. We all benefit...

Minnesota did send their best this year and they fought like true competitors!

And kudos to the non minnesotans who joined ranks, EARNED a spot and wore the colors. The naysayers on this board didn't want you, but those in the know understand you deserved to be there! Thank you for the personal family sacrifice! It has not gone unnoticed.

You are all family now....

The boys fought hard and competed with the best 10 yr olds in North America for a solid week. Team Minnesota did not send their best 15 skaters to the Brick this year. This years group clearly lacked several studs to put up points at will. Even our most talented kids on this squad did not do much, not a single player stood out. This was a ho-hum group of grinders who had a ton of heart but much less skill than the other teams who competed in the tournament.

Who peed in your corn flakes?

It neutralizes the skill of the high-end players when all the kids are really good. I've seen plenty of these kids play at a little lower level and a few of them dominate.

As far as sending the 15 best skaters, Toronto didn't send theirs...Detroit didn't send theirs...and so on.

The kids that went are "Team Mn" end of story!! They played great. Way to go boys. Why is there always a coulda/shoulda type character out there? If it's & buts were candy & nuts we would all have a merry X-mas!!

O & 85...You could absolutely say that every single team who participated at the Brick this year did not send their best kids for many different reasons (politics, parents, etc). There are more than likely a hundred different highly talented 10 yr old MN hockey players who were never discovered, evaluated or merely had no interest in the Brick altogether. So to say Team Minnesota sent their best is a fallacy, plain and simple. I was extremely impressed at the level of play I saw in many of the games I watched this year and I agree completely that the older these kids get, the more even the play will become because they all can play at a high level. I just expected some certain kids to stand out (2 wisconsin imports) and they did not.

Just asserting an opinion, is that alright with you? Opinions are like _____, every one has one. This forum is interesting, it allows individuals to assert their opinion. It is alright for me to believe that the best 10 year olds the state of MN hockey has to offer did not participate in the Brick this year because it is true.

I'm confused. Is it your opinion or is it true? Sounds like you are claiming its an opinion and then saying its a fact in the same post.

OMG - get ahold of yoursefl. It's fairly likely that we didn't send our best, but oh well. The kids we did send, did a decent job, but we don't need to coronate them. I have no doubt there are politics that are causing this to be a "who you know" type of selection process. And why do I need to give "kudos" to the non-minnesota kids? I have no idea if they "deserved to be there" over anyone else. Let's keep it in perspective - just another invite only tournament for 10 year old kids. Nothing more.

Politics are involved in the 15's the 16's the 17's the U S jrs the U of MN on & on & on. Does that mean we shouldn't wish them our best ?? My opinion is there were more Mn kids on Team Mn than on any other team [by far]. So that was the team that I had the most interest in & cheered for.
