I don't generally lock topics this soon after a game is over, but will if this continues.

I guess cheering isn't allowed. Fair enough, I'll keep quiet on this subject.

Glad that is over. Give Appolo credit for having a run at it but I am not so sure that they had fun making memories that they will treasure for a lifetime like that clown announcer kept repeating. Was gonna say he droned on about it but no point in giving Sen Rand more ammo.

In all seriousness, I am looking forward to the semis to see if EGF or Lourdes can pull a huge upset. STA looks unbeatable, but that's why they play the games.

Sen. Rand should read the anti-private school thread. Everyone would probably walk out on him.

To bad they don't play a 7th place game. Apollo and Marshall (the public) may have been a close game. I didn't say a good game, I said a close game.

To there credit STA gave there 4th line a lot of ice time in the 3rd period there going double a next year. Short of pulling 9th graders out of the stands, what could they do. Just the same-I pray for a upset .

I know many people hate STA but objectively i can't understand why the Vannelli's aren't ever mentioned when best coaches are discussed. They play a very tough schedule except maybe 1 of their last 3 games, and that is being taken care of. Have 4 state championships, play in Swanns Gold division, and Play in addition to HM at least twice, this year BSM, Edina, Minnetonka, Breck, and Schattuck every year.

Good question.. They are both good coaches and their teams always play hard and discipline no matter who it is against. Good recruiters as well... They don't get to pick their opponents at the X or during playoffs. It is a joke they are in class A and there for they don't get much love!!

This is not what one expects to see when watching any State Tournament. STA could have scored 25+ they toy'd with them. I know its always a private school vs public issue but something needs to be done to save the integrity of MN High school hockey. put all Privates in one or two sections, or All Private should be AA.
There's talk about good coaches ?? watching Vanelli last night he did not coach, he stodd on the bench with his hand over his face most the evening, i think he realizes this is not what a State Tournament should be about. On a nother note - it would be STA play against the best talent. could be a good game, fast moving, smart hockey.

No one has commented on it that I can see; I'm looking forward to see how Apollo develops over the next couple years. They only have 5 seniors on their roster, have 6 freshmen, are returning two 40+ point scorers and both of their goalies are freshmen.

They put up 4 goals against Lourdes today. It'll be interesting to see how this team develops.

I think it would be unfortunate, geographically speaking, if Sauk, Sartell, Cathedral and Apollo weren't in the same section next year, but with Cathedral graduating 10 seniors as well as both goaltenders, maybe Apollo will be the team to beat in the area next year...

Maybe people shud enjoy the show. Heck with it, let em dominate. Eveleth had a similar if not better run. Remember that according to written record, Eveleth way back was dominant, the hs tourney wasn't a big deal. The Eveleth team didn't even play a hs schedule....maybe they shouldn't have been in this tournament... but now we hold them with a very high level of respect ...
Just sayin..

Alot of 6A folks are saying that same thing that if Cathedral or someone else isnt added to that section, then its going to be Apollo's to lose because of the skill they have returning. Also having a freshmen goalie who played all but 1 period coming back doesnt hurt and the kid is only going to get better. Apollo certainly is a team to watch out for.
