hey as someone watching their team cough up a tough one, it looks like L towm has the same problem. Reliance on one line and trying to be too fancy. Hard nosed hockey works better in the long run. When Luverne went to state they had more than one line that scored and tough nosed D. I haven't seen that in two years from them. Not this year and not last year. Get some grit man. I speak to them and to my own team. Come on Thawks. Too much talent to slide out.

Yeah probably the best on their roster offensive wise. His name is Luke Ryan and i don't think he's expected back anytime soon. Knee maybe. Can't remember, been out all year.

Goalies in this section are nothing special, with the exception of Raymond from NUSE who still has his games at times... No shot on goal is a bad shot.

If someone wants to hit me with some stats to prove me wrong I'd gladly retract my statement. But the ones I have seen play so far, the only one I've seen worth really talking about is New Ulm's. Not to mention he has been mentioned in this thread several times.
Luverne could have a good one, but I have not seen him play and New Ulm just dropped 4 goals in Luverne. Again I wasn't there, but I don't know I would say this is a real electric offense for New Ulm either. Luverne still has to play in Redwood and in New Ulm, maybe I'll be singing a different tune by then.

Litch
new ulm
luverne
hutch
With the ability to switch new ulm and litch depending on the next 2 weeks, that's my seeding prediction

Certainly could go that way, hard to seed Hutch and Litch with the lack of section games they play.
Luverne
New Ulm
Litch
Redwood
Hutch
Is how I'm going to go. 15 goals tonight for Luverne should carry some momentum into the second half of conference and section games. I of course do realize Fairmont may not be at the top of the contenders in the section, but 15 goals is 15 goals.
New Ulm could obviously go up or down and that depends on how their goalie plays.
Redwood Valley will need to have more consistent goaltending or more scoring to move up.
I suppose it doesn't matter all that much how we guess it plays out. All the coaches just vote against teams they want to screw when seeding the section anyways..

How far did you end up traveling? Future reference just assume if a snow flake falls during the day, all activities in brown county are cancelled.
I ended up doing laundry in lieu of going to hockey... Laundry..

Heard from a semi-reliable source that this game was postponed because Redwood schools closed early.

I was just thinking earlier about how hard it would be to seed these teams if the season ended today but I'll give it a try being others are. Thankfully for the coaches there are a lot of games left that will hopefully help sort some things out, or it could also just makes things more confusing.
1. Luverne (10-5-1) - The overall resume is enough to hang on to the top spot even though they just dropped one at home against the team right below them. If they can figure how to put the puck in the net more consistently against other top teams they will be dangerous as it looks they've been getting good goaltending thus far this year which has held them back in previous years. Will need to not stumble in between and beat New Ulm in the rematch if they want to hang on to the top seed.
2. New Ulm (5-7-1) - Has wins over Luverne, Litchfield, Marshall, and also a tie against hutch. The loses to Redwood and St.Peter hold them out of the top spot. Will need to continue to get great goaltending and keep capitalizing on their few opportunities in each game. They have a goaltender you do not want to have to beat come playoff time. Will need to beat Marshall, Redwood, and Luverne in order to take over the top spot.
3. Litchfield (8-3) - Has the best record at 8-3 and has wins over Redwood and St.Peter. They fall at three because of the early loss at New Ulm. They will need to beat Marshall, and Hutchinson in both meetings if they want to stay at three and possibly move up. Good results in conference play could also help boost them above New Ulm. Not playing Luverne I think hurts Litch and they will need New Ulm to beat them in their next meeting as well in order to be seeded ahead of them.
4. Hutchinson (3-6-1) - As Goldy stated Litchfield and Hutch are hard to seed at this point due to a lack of section games. Good results against New Ulm (2-2 tie) and Marshall (3-2 win) are enough to stay in the top 4. Loses to Litchfield in my mind would not be enough to make them drop down from this spot, but wins would help them move up as long as they are able to take care of Redwood and Willmar later in the season.
5. Marshall (9-6) - Has lost to the teams above them and beaten the teams below them that they have played. Remaining games against New Ulm, Litchfield, and Luverne will give them a chance to move up as long as they take care of the teams below them. I wouldn't be shocked to see them win one or two of those games against the teams I have above them and complicate things further.
6. Redwood (8-5) - Has wins over New Ulm, Waseca, and St.Peter, but big loses to Marshall and Litchfield hold them back at 6. They are another team that I would not be shocked to see beat any of the teams above them. They should be able to continue to take care of teams below them and will look to upset one or more teams above them to hopefully move up. In order to do so they will need to continue to get big numbers out of Sommers.
7. Willmar (2-9) - The only reason I have to put them above the others at the bottom is the closer than expected result against Litchfield. They have remaining games with many of the teams above them so they should have plenty of chances to move up, but I don't think they're capable this year of beating anyone but Redwood that I have above them right now.
8. Windom (3-9) - Split with Fairmont and has wins over Worthington and Morris.
9. Fairmont (3-11) - Split with windom and has wins over Worthington and Morris.
10. Worthington (2-9) - Has a section win over Morris and has been competitive with Fairmont and Windom.
11. Morris/Benson (0-9) - With loses to Windom, Fairmont, and Worthington they may be staring a winless season in the face unless they can beat one of them in their second meeting or beat Breckenridge/Wahpeton who was beaten by Worthington earlier this year.

Nobody wants to drive home in the fog to watch Joe pull his goalie when being down by a touchdown in the third!
