1) DM
2) SCC
3)Mora
4)Princeton

SCC has to be ahead of Mora becasue SCC beat Mora already head to head. Mora jumps quickly to 3 with beating Princeton and Princeton losing to Sauk Rapids. Sauk Rapids is getting hot though... they played a tough game against St. Cloud Tech and have the ability to upset anyone. With that young of a team and a good senior leader/goal scorer in Peckscamp, they could really suprise some teams in the playoffs. A darkhorse for an upset in the section playoffs is Duluth Denfeld. I think they are able to skate with any team in the section for a period, its just putting together an entire game. They have beaten Virginia and Silver Bay and nearly pulled out an upset against East. Watch for them to suprise some people. This section is up for grabs. Duluth Marshall is the front runner but most, if not all the teams can pull together something when come sections. I cannot wait to see how it pans out.

When we are talking rankings are we talking Power rankings like who is hot now, or are we talking like Seeding rankings. Because those are two entirely different things. Seedings still could go many different ways. Princeton Has beat Mora, and lost to mora, both one goal games. Princeton beat SCC. SCC beat Mora. So It is really quite the toss up.

Power Rankings
1.DM
2. Mora
3.SCC
4.Princeton

Seedings
1.DM-strength of schedule and results speak for themselves
2.Princeton-Beat SCC and Mora head to head, tied lourdes
3. You gotta put SCC above Princeton based on SR beating them. All the over-all rankings have SCC above both Princeton and Mora...

I think Mora is the biggest dark-horse, and that DM and SCC are at the top, unless something happens this weekend in games that are unexpected.. Princeton started hot, and is now cooling off....

<img src=

Not Necasarilly. Seedings have a lot to do with head to head competition. And Princeton Beat Both Mora, AND SCC. SCC did beat Mora, which puts them third, and Mora Lost to Both SCC and Princeton, While beating Princeton once Makes this a toss up section. For seedings wise atleast.

As for who is hot right now, or Power rankings I totally agree with you that Princeton is atleast 4th, maybe lower. And Mora and SCC are both playing very well at the moment.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

Hey ptown!! Good to be chattin' again..

Let's look and see what the two major state-wide rankings say about 2A. I'll put their total ranking/scores for each.. Hawker's scoring is second..

----------Place / Score--Place / Score
DM--------20 / 19.00------24 / 10.53
SCC-------41 / 17.66------52 / 9.11
Princeton--76 / 15.40------77 / 7.80
Mora------73 / 15.56------78 / 7.77
SR--------89 / 14.57-----100 / 6.53
DD--------93 / 14.32------88 / 7.28
DC--------99 / 13.89------85 / 7.45
Sartell----106 / 13.60-----105 / 6.25
Pine City--114 / 12.82-----115 / 5.61
Proctor---124 / 12.15-----118 / 5.37
Moose Lk--126 / 11.56----123 / 5.03

As you say, head-to-head is PART of the seeding process, but who you play, and how you do against "like" opponents is also important. Also, how you do against ranked teams in the rest of the leagues is also important. Although the strength of your team's schedule is important, it's also important as to how you do against those teams. (I hope SR is listening... <img src=
http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> )

I hear that Princeton had a bad night against SR, and so lost to them. Perhaps SCC also had a tough night... So there you need to look out at the whole season to see just where does a team stack up with it's section peers. AND of course, how a team is doing "down the stretch" is also vitally important. If a team won it's first 10 games, but floundered near the end and lost it's last 6 against weak competition, that is also a factor.

So, all that being said, and with the "now" factor being there, (there are still some important games to play which could change all of this) I would have to say that the above rankings is how "I" see it playing out. Of course, just one opinion of many on this board...

<img src=

as of now my rankings are the same as a lot of people's
1) DM
2) SCC
3)Mora
4)Princeton

I agree with LU4 that cathedral should be ahead of mora by beating them 7-1, although it was early in the year the score might be different if they were to play today, but so could the game against princeton. I used to have princeton ahead of mora, but as of now i switched them...these last games are important for all the teams

Any games this weekend?? After looking at all those numbers, and yes it wasnt hard to figure it all out, I thought SCC was the most powerful out of them all. Even though they lost to Princeton, I think they shoudl deserve #2 because. 1- they beat Mora head to head pretty handidly. Princeton split with Mora, both games were evenly match. SCC must have had a bad game against Princeton b/c...2- SCC beat Sartell pretty bad, 7-0? Mora and Princeton both played Sartell to 1 goal games. 3- SCC beat Marshall pretty bad, and Princeton beat them by I think 2 goals. Therefore, a few correlations occur while looking at all those numbers. I don't think their is a way for Mora or Princeton to move ahead of SCC. It all doesn't matter anyway, because if any team wants to go to state they have to get through the Hilltoppers and thats the bottom line.

I think SCC has a pretty good grip on number 2 if...they beat DC and PC. If they lose to either of those two teams they can fall considerably.

Look at the Proctor Score Princeton Smoked them, Mora and SCC just beat them. Prarie Centre Mora KILLED them, SCC didn't beat them as bad. I dont think it is as cut and dry as you all say. They may get the 2, but they could just as easily get the 3. I dont see them falling to 4 however, because they did beat Mora.

I'm not sure if it was ptown or who, but something was said that indicated that one factor that needs to be used in determining seedings is how a team does in the second half of the season, or "Who's hot NOW".... If that's the case, then I say:

DM
SCC
Mora
Princeton
SR (?)

I mean, SR got their second win of the year from Princeton, right?? I think Mora's hot now, and SCC's making statements in the second half...

Of course, just one more opinion. Ptown, In many other threads people talk about comparing blowouts to blowouts and how you can't do it. You should read some of their points. Comparing a 10-2 win to a 7-2 win is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I agree with you. In my Opinion a W, is a W. In fact a big part of a good team in my opinion is they know how to win the close ones. So if that's the case They have all beat the same common opponents. The only common opponent loss's are against eachother. In this aspect, Princeton is the only team that have beat BOTH Mora and SCC, even though they did lose to Mora once. Which is why I dont think SCC has a "grip" on 2nd seed. They might get it, they might not. Could be whose coach makes a better arguement at section seedings.

As for the loss to Sauk, I dont think it will be as big of a deal when decieding the top 4 seeds. Because Mora and SCC don't play Sauk. And I'm sure both all the coaches know how dangerous Sauk CAN be.

Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

No, They wouldnt play us. We even tried to get a scrimmage with them but they wouldnt do it. Guess that is how a undefeated team, in section play gets the 2 seed.

Yeah, you know, Sheldon plays his 'tough' schedule. He has been using that ever since he got in the CLC. Which by no means is a tough conference other than Tech, Apollo, and maybe Brainerd.

SCC beat duluth central 6-1(?).The game was pretty much dominated by the crusaders, they had many high quality oportunities to score but they couldnt put it away. There were a lot of penalties on both teams, i think duluth had about three 10 minute misconducts and their fans were crying because they thought the refs were being unfair.

What happened to p-town losing to chisago??

The Crusaders outshot the Trojans about 58-15 in their 6-1 win. Himmelspach played extremely well. From what I noticed he is a great goalie and may carry this team in the playoffs. And another thing, how do you get 3-10 minute misconducts in 1 period. That was just amazing.

Edited by: <A HREF=
