Nice article.
The more I learn about Ken Pauly, the more he reminds me of Mike Randolph.

Nice feature-length love letter to Minnesota hockey (mainly college focus, but plenty of talk about high school hockey and backyard rinks). Author's subtitle is "A Visit to Eden" but in an ironic twist she didn't visit Eden Prairie.

Interesting tweets from Let's Play Hockey (@LetsPlay_Hockey) on a hard hit in Holy Family vs Mound Westonka game.
Photo from Tuesday's Holy Family v Mound Westonka boys' HS hockey game. No penalty called. Helmet broke on hit.
Illegal hit was one of several incidents involving questionable officiating. Game was webcast live on

Interesting piece on Mike Randolph, and the broader theme of the length of high school coaches' tenures:
http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/news_article ... r_id=32770
I actually disagree with the premise. If 3 of the 7 coaches with 500 wins are currently active (with a 4th being forced out last year) and several others are within striking distance, that would suggest that this sort of longevity is becoming
more common. Of course, given the higher stakes in high school sports, there still may be more turnover today than there was 30 years ago; maybe it's just that the most successful stick around longer nowadays.
At any rate, still well-written and thoughtful.
Edit: They are also most definitely missing Tom Saterdalen from their list. His website has him at 545-167-21.

The game in which East scored in the 2nd overtime even though Lou Nanne wouldn't admit to seeing what everyone else could clearly see on the replays?

Just a spacing problem in their formatting. Maple Grove is ninth.
