SUPER FAN 09. Don't BREAK YOUR ARM patting yourself on the back. If Albert Lea happens to lose the game to New Ulm , will you be JUMPING OFF A BRIDGE? So if they lose the game , does that mean the Albert Lea coaches are not good coaches. THINK ABOUT IT.

Yes, that is exactly what it means.
I heard Nystrom and staff will get canned if they lose.
Leading candidate is Mark Carlson. Rumor has it he is the most qualified hockey mind in Albert Lea and it is an absolute shame that he is not involved with the hockey program.
Seedings at State

Best of luck to both teams!!!! Hopefully it is a clean hard fought game. The new state tournament seedings seem at first glance to make it even tougher for Section 1A to make great showing at state. History says that Section 1A fits into the the number 8 seed most years. (Unless Lourdes returns to section 1). Is there a possibility that Section 1A gets seeded higher than 8???

Yes, there is a 100% chance they'll get seeded higher than 8.
They are only seeding the top four. The other four teams will be drawn randomly.
There is a 25% chance that the random draw will have them play the 1 seed.

New Ulm is never an easy team to play, and the section finals toss everything previous out the window. AL does have the experience and the coaching, but are they ready for this type of game. They haven't had to deal with a tough game in a week or so, and this is definatley not going to be one they can control. You can skate hard and practice hard all you want, but its always easier to play confident if you build up a big lead. The longer this game goes close, the better New Ulm's odds. If New Ulm gets the first goal in I say they win it. If AL scores first and is allowed to control the flow then I say AL 3-1.

Interesting note that the 1A game tonight is the last game that will be starting and makes either New Ulm or Albert Lea the last team to punch their ticket to state. The only game that won't be done (barring OT for DM and SCC) will be Little Falls/Fergus Falls starting at 6.
With as many people who don't care about 1A I wonder if people will even bother to check to see who won after the other 15 teams will already be in.
Should be a good game tonight. Two good goalies and two teams that work hard every shift. AL probably gets the nod in the skill department with the way their first line played, but that's not to say that New Ulm can't put the puck in the net.
Should be a fun, hard-hitting game, I hope the reffing does not have a negative impact on the game.
My prediction is:
AL 4
NU 2

KATE 1450 in Albert Lea is carrying the game, but they don't simulcast on the net. KNUJ 860 is the radio station in New Ulm, they do simulcast acoording to their website but you need quicktime.

Are you kidding? Nystrom and his staff won't get canned. Roy is the best coach in the Big 9

Are you kidding? Nystrom and his staff won't get canned. Roy is the best coach in the Big 9 also look at the past history of AL hockey ever since Roy has been the coach. Since he has been the coach we have gone to state every season except four that is over 85% of the time we have gone to state. I'd call that a dynasty.
State every year but 4 and 85% of the time Nystrom has been there? I must have missed a couple state tournaments.

Also what are your rankings for next season

From what I've heard, the new sections are supposed to be released tomorrow (Monday), so we should find out soon.

If Lourdes moves to 1A it's only because their splitting up the current 1A. As it is 1A is already the largest both in terms of numbers and geographically in the state. Some of the class A metro sections only have 8 teams and Lourdes section now only has 10. Some sort of combing and redistribution of 1A, 6A, and 3A is the only feasable way to get Lourdes back in 1A and if that happens Red Wing and LaCrescent will be with them. Kind of along the lines of the administrative 1AA/1A region: Austin, Albert Lea, Faribault, Northfield, Red Wing, LaCrescent, and Lourdes.
