Let's see how they bounce back.
I say bring back the big Juan Berrenger.....
He's still in town selling cars in Burnsville... sign him up... He'll fit nicely into Boof's jersey.
By the way... doesn't his kid play hockey for EP?
Chris Berenguer plays for THE Hamline "Pied" Pipers.

Maybe in the results, but Lohse always had good stuff, he just didn't have the mental makeup to be a good starting pitcher when he was with the Twins. Perkins has been the opposite for the most part, he doesn't have overpowering stuff but knows how to pitch. Last night may have been an exception, I didn't see the game but it sounds like he lost his focus.

Perkins pitched well for 5 innings. He got out of a bases loaded jam allowing one rune in the 6th. To me it is time to go tto the pen. Gardy waited and let Perkins start the 7th. He had Bass warming up (with a 5 run lead) when Ibanez hit the Grand Slam. Bass should be in AAA and they should have gotten a RP at the deadline. Gardy is a great manager but in my opinion he made a mistake last night letting Perkins start the 7th.

Tonight he has a 3 run shot too.
Twin Killer, definitely, should've signed him Billy.

The republicans continue to wreak havoc... and they haven't even hit town yet.
Fortunately, the Twins still have Kubel (4-5, 3R, 3RBI, 2 HRs), so they still have a chance.

So how did the Twins respond to the Monday debacle? By choking another one away.
Apparently they didn't have any left handed relievers available in the bottom of the 8th and Gardy ended up bringing Nathan in and he couldn't get the needed outs.
The Twins need a good start today from Blackburn, he needs to go at least 7 innings. The ship is starting to wobble and a good solid performance would settle things down a bit.

The Rockies' need for a proven starter led to a bold move Tuesday. Rather than wait for Livan Hernandez to become a free agent, the Rockies claimed the veteran right-hander on trade waivers, according to a major-league source. It is a bit surprising because by claiming him from the Minnesota Twins, the Rockies could get stuck with the roughly $1.6 million remaining on his contract. The next step is for the Twins and Rockies to work out a trade by Thursday. Minnesota designated Hernandez for assignment last week, giving the team 10 days to release him, trade him or send him to the minor leagues. The Twins have the right to pull Hernandez back once a team claims him.
They took Ramon Ortiz last year too, right?

Are you suggesting that they're going back to the World Series now that they have Livan?

Add those salaries together and you get a couple really good players for the same price. Every year we waste money on garbage instead of using it for something more useful. Tony Batista is still available I hear.

Why don't we waste on good garbage like Fernando Tatis at least?
And I'm not saying anything about the Rockies yet, but it is an odd coincidence...

Yah, I dont get it schwang. The list is long and we know who they are from Brett Boone to Rondell White but why do they do it?
They balk at signing a Frank Thomas or a Soriano or a Thome.
A trade for Beltre probably was effected by salary.
But they blow millions of bucks on a number of washouts who nobody else wants and who they cut by June.
Instead of spending all that money on a bunch of stiffs, get one good free agent and use the guys in the minors to fill in.

oh come on now, that's not the minnesota way!
It just wouldn't be "minnesota nice" if we didn't have to play the underdog every year with a bunch of no-namers and the M&M boys.

Can anyone name a decent free agent pickup the Twins have had since Jack Morris? Kenny Rogers, maybe?
They've had some great trades, they've done a good job with the farm system and it's been almost twenty years since they had a free agent add something to the team. A lot of it has been an unwillingness to spend the bucks but when they have spent some money it hasn't worked. It's one thing to be cheap, it's another to be cheap and not find any bargains in the process.
If they're not going to shell out the money on free agents they should at least do a better job of scouting the guys that are available in their price range.
BTW, I don't think the reason the Beltre trade didn't go through was because of money, the Mariners didn't make any real moves and from what I've read wanted more for their players than anyone was willing to give up. It's like charging retail prices at a garage sale.
Good to see you got control of your username again packerboy.

Kenny Rogers? That's a bit liberal with the term "decent" don't ya think? In 2003 he went 13-8 with a 4.57 ERA. We probably could've taken someone out of the minors to do that...

It'll be interesting to see if they try to get a bat in here during the offseason. If they don't do it then, it may never happen.
If you think about it, they have the following positions secure for next season:
C
1B
2B
LF
CF
RF
All 5 starters
Setup
Closer
Also figure the following players won't be back: Boof, Lamb, Everett, Reyes, maybe Kubel?.... They'll probably want to shore up SS, long relief and maybe 3B, but there should be money available to get a thumper. The entire rotation is making less than Morneau for cripes sake.

Yah, they are too afraid of committng a bunch of money to one guy and it not working out.
But count the millions they have spent on guys who are gone by June...that doesnt seem to bother them.
Different.
