Different.
Right on, PB. The thing that baffles me is how you can be so good at trading and building a farm system but so horrible at signing free agents. 1 would think that the same system of evaluating each player and their future gains would be used - whether you're a young kid worthy of a minor league contract, or a 32 year old veteran free agent looking to help somebody. I can't even begin to configure how this happens where we're so good at 1 thing but so horrible at the other and the same process of evaluation is/should be involved. Like someone else said, it's like paying retail price for somebody's old/damaged goods at a yard sale.

Great news from LaVelle...
"Heard that Alexi Casilla had a very encouraging check up as he battles a torn ligament in his right thumb. We’ll get more details when we get into Gardy’s office, but it sounds like the Twins can expect him back at some point. "

i had a torn ligament in my left thumb about 6 months ago. It's still not the same.

Schwanger you have to quit "watching" those free internet movie clips and let it rest and heal for a while.

SC, when you're as smooth as i am you don't need free movie clips, just enough money to support 'em all.

If you are really smooth... you don't have to pay for that.

well that sucks, leading off first base and Garrett Jones lines one off his foot. To top it off, he got called out for runners interferance on the play. If it weren't for bad luck...

If you are paying them, then you should be able to argue it isn't yours.

i'm not paying them, it just doubles my expenses wherever I decide to go. Thanks to SC for changing this thread into whatever it is now.

what is that...4 games the pen has blown in the last week? Bad fielding leads to a bit of it, but the pen has been awful lately.

They need a set up guy but Everet is in the game for one reason...defense.
But hey, old Adam is proving that it really is hard to throw the ball with both hands around your throat.
Also ,they left a lot of guys on the bases.
Team effort ......but a set up guy would be nice.

Only doom and gloom talk about the Twins and not one mention of the blown up achilles of Contrares or the missing Crede or anybody else they're missing? Also of note, they haven't even named their 5th starter yet. Looks like a late season slide to me, and who was it that predicted it would happen? (here's to hoping anyway)
Guess this isn't a no spin zone...

Hate to back up PB too much - because I don't think it's as dire as he seems to think - but Contreras hasn't pitched in a month, and yet somehow the Sox have managed to maintain 1st place. Besides, in games he's pitched this season, they're 10-9... He isn't what he's been in the past.
Although, I will say that if they go get Jerrod Washburn as a result of his injury (which is the talk), that'll make me slightly nervous because the Twins don't play as well against lefties (I have to assume that's only because Kubel isn't the lineup.... I can't think of any other reasonable explanation). Fortunately, they only have the 1 series left against the Sox, but if they can sneak another lefthander in there along with Buehrle for it, it may cause problems. We'll have to wait it see.

Good start to the very important homestand. Finally sinking the Pontoon was nice to see, but tonight's game against the SS Twin Killer will be a real tester. Blackburn is 2 runs per game better at the Dome than on the road, and he'll probably need both of them tonight.

I dont recall a better pitched game than what Perkins and Nathan put together last night.
When Everett hits a HR, you know its goin good.
They need to put some bales up in the barn before the road trip.

Looks like the Twins may have to implement one of these...
On a side note, if Guerrier is somehow able to figure out how to throw the ball as hard as he threw his hat and glove in the dugout last night, he won't have to worry about giving up anymore long balls.

Its easy to blame the bullpen ..... ...because they are to blame.
But no, seriously, when you are at home and have a "free swing" in the bottom of the 9th , 10th and 11th and cant score one to win it, what happened is gonna happen, especially vs the Yankees.
How many innings can you keep A Rod form doing damage? Eventually, he will beat you.
Score a run and he doesnt make it to the plate.
But I like the idea UNS. Right now, Guerrier is SEVERE.
