I think Willmar would have done as well.
You need to stop smoking lefties.

Luverne clearly was the best team in the Section. Hands down. Hutch, NU, or Willmar were Not very good this year!!

Not too take anything away from Luverne but I do not think Hermantown was at their best today or they are clearly very very over rated!!

Luverne can win the consolation crown though and that would be great for 3A!!

Luverne played well. Competed better then any other 3A team in the first round.

Was told by more then one person today that Jaxon Nelson is going to stay at Luverne through his Senior Year. My Shattuck sources were false. Scary for the rest of 3A.

However they will lose Meyer and that will be a huge void to fill

2 goal (empty netter) loss to arguably the toughest program in 1A hockey is pretty damn impressive. My hat is off to the Cards. Take one at marriucci now!!!

That was as much fun as I have had watching a hockey game since the old days. Thanks Luverne Cardinals for the entertaining style you brought to an old man on day one of the tournament!! I once again believe there is room at the podium for the Reggie Miracle type underdogs. You did not win but I think you may just have put 3A on the hockey map. Keep on dreaming big!!

Go Luverne, Go 3A Hockey!!

I liked what I saw from Luverne. Several nice players on their squad.

They'll win tomorrow...possibly even consolation.

To state the obvious...really like both Sengvonxay and Nelson. Real nice players.

It was fun watching Plante's nose get even more purple than normal! Great game for Luverne. Southern Minny is making some noise finally! 8)

Luverne played the best first game in 3A history.

They scored three goals yesterday, No other 3A team has scored more than one.

they also lost by 3 (although I'll say 2) No other team in 3A has been that close in any game they played. 6 or more.

Roll Cards Roll, and go 2-1

Will the game at Mariucci be streamed anywhere?

litchfield lost to warroad 4-0 in 2008 (4 goal differential) and marshall lost to brick 6-1 (5 goal differential), so that last stat you had is false.

KQAD has it. It's streaming on the K101 channel...

4-0 Luverne right now with 8 mins left in the first.

The KQAD website is plugged up with logins so the only way I got it was use "Tune-In" on my Android phone... Under K101

Warm up the bus Chisago!!

Probably going to get Grace in the Consolation if Grace doesn't lay an egg against Orono.. Grace is a tough tough team.. Can't believe they didn't beat Cathedral..

Luverne wins 5-2. Good win for them, hopefully they fare as well in the Consolation Championship game.

I am not so sure TG wins this next one. Orono, after a slow start, looked pretty good against EGF yesterday.
Luverne came out very fast today and were able to "take their foot off the gas" a bit today. I don't think that was their intention, but the flow of the game definitely changed after the 1st.
Should be an exciting game Saturday.

I'd like to hear more from the guy who says 5A is so much better than 3A.

Luverne trounced those wildcats today. Not even close.

overall 5a probably is better than 3a. that doesn't mean that CL is better than Luverne. Plus this is a message board for peoples opinions. Just because someone says 5a is better doesn't make it fact. Hell, if every person on this board says 5a is better doesn't make it fact. I hope Luverne wins Consolation and walks away from this tournament happy with their performance. I think even they will agree that in the near future playing a better schedule will take away some of the nerves when they step on the ice against a team like Hermantown. They can play with those teams I am just not sure they knew that to start the game, and as it got later and later, they understood they belonged and played like it.

What do you want to hear? Not seeing the game and just the score, yes Luverne took it to them in the first and got up early, looks like that was the nail in the coffin.

I still believe that if they played 10 times Chisago would win more but notTHISMORNING.

Congrats on your win, the biggest or your career.
