This is true. From what I know, Foot will be back in mid-December. Something like 5 months ago he couldnt even lift his leg..I guess he did good on his rehab, and is skating and everything. I think RW is starting a 10th grader with no varsity experience.. but he has the skill.

oh, and Schammel will probably end up carrying this team.

Plenty of juniors that can play with him in the Section, but that has been beaten to death on the forum here.
Yeah, Nate Foot is pretty much out of the picture, I think. I know he's a tough kid, and he could probably come back later in the season, but I just don't see him getting back any time soon.

And you're right, Schammel is not the best junior in the section... he's undisciplined and not the fastest skater... I wouldn't even put him in the top five juniors in the section.

after seeing some of the scores from the scrimmages i'd put them in this order
1. lourdes
2. r.wing
3. n.prague
4. west
5. alb lea
6. farb
7. nfield

lourdes has the most depth and best goalie. wingers look like they've been able to replace their defensemen, which was a question mark. np still has a young , but very fast team. west i had pegged for 2nd if they filled in their loss on defense. it doesn't look like they have. they gave up 4 goals in their al scrimmage. al's forwards aren't in the top 5-6 groups of returning forwards. if west can't stop them they sure won't be able to stop any of the other top teams. tigers should give them a run for the 4 spot, despite losing their top 2 centers and a couple of other good wings they appear to be solid again. farb will be pretty good, but it looks like they've lost helgeson and that may be too much to make up. nf has a good group returning, but there's too many good teams ahead of them this year.
eagles and wingers in the finals.

lourdes does not have the best goalie by any means...brutal....i would put AL's forwards in the top 4.....faribault is brutal they are not good by any means...red wing is nothing special either...lourdes will be solid...west is all offense...not sure on NP...

Eaglehockey, obviously you are from Lourdes, tell me how your lines are being put together and why you think you have the most depth, also I would take Waalkens from AL before Scudamore. Get Scudamore moving from side to side and he falls off badly as a goalie.

I was kind of kidding there. I don't know how you get off saying they're bad if he's going to do well for them though. But anyway as I said, kind of kidding, just giving him a boost to his ego as I'm sure he reads this stuff.

returning forward groups
1. lourdes - voight, peterson, funk, campbell, gudgell
2. west - leivermann, litchfield, anderson, deopere, bruggeman, trembly
3. wingers - kesti,schammel,halvorson, bergeson,noesen
4. nprague - lapic, ambroz,adams, feuk
5. farib - pavek,smuda,larson, scheffler
6. alb lea - woodside,bowman,dokken,prescher-smerud,stadheim
7. nfield - saari,dyrahl,paulson,freiermuth, faust

comparing the top returning forwards, defenseman, experienced goalies,
and incoming bantam groups i see lourdes at the top. al has a solid group coming back, but lost the 2 anchors for their forward lines plus 2 other good wings. their forwards might be better than farib because of depth at forward, but the top 4 for the falcons are just as good or better. al could finish in the top 4 in the section because of their overall team depth. good goalie, good defenseman (especially royce), nice forward group, one of the top coaches in the section, maybe the best. lourdes has all that plus a better group of forwards.

Wow what a surpise, someone with the name "EaglehockeyI" picks Lourdes.

Nemanich and Nystrom are both very good experianced coaches, top tier in the entire state. Lourdes, Faribault, West have all had talented teams fall flat come playoffs recently. Lourdes has a new coach, if he can reign in the kids parents Lourdes will be fine, if he can't..... Lourdes plays all the 1A contenders, Albert Lea may play the toughest schedule, and the Missota teams won't be suprised by anything as they have Holy Angels twice. The interseting part may be the seeds and how the 5 Big Nine and 3 Missota coaches regard the other conference - the Big Nine teams, AL in particular, play a bunch of AA teams, while the Missota boys get highly rated AHA.

I think Lourdes will get the top seed, but Red Wing is the team to beat.

Not really any bad teams in this section, but also not any really good ones.

West @ New Prague thursday. any predictions? last year np won 9-2. west
lost 1 decent forward, a good defenseman, and their goalie since last year. np lost witty and 4-5 other good to decent forwards, 2 good defensemen, and their goalie. np has already had 1 game and started fast. good early season matchup.
my prediction: np 7 - west 4

it may have been the same goalie as last year for nprague but that wasn't the same team in front of him tonight. WHAT only 1 goal for the trojans and he let's in 7 for west! huge win for red wing tonight against orono 5-2. big non-section game for lourdes against blake saturday. bears look very beatable this year. lourdes wins 4-2.

yea that was a disgusting display of hockey by the entire team, but i get the feeling it was a just a bad night, nothing to call home about

MW/NP

From the looks of the box score, MW's 1st line scored 6 of the 7. They are going to be tough to corral and if NP was matching up, that would be 2 freshmen out there. The other thing to remember about West is that when Brug. the goalie is hot, he is very tough to score on.

Shots were 39-28 NP.
NP had 12 minutes of PP in the 3rd with over 5 minutes consecutively of 5-3. Outshot West 23-2 in that period but did not score, but by that time it was 5-1 West after 2 with pretty much a total domination of the 1st 2 periods by West aside from the opening 5 minutes of the game.

i dont understand why everyone isnt that fond of red wing they beat orono 5-2 and scored 3 goals before orono scored any in the first period, but i must admit i am very suprised with west and somewhat shocked with new prauge i thought that they would beat west , and to who ever that was that put northfield in front of red wing all i have to say is wow northfeild is the weaker of the dominant teams in this section and i think that lourdes and red wing will be a real test for this red wing team and will reveal a lot for this sections finalist

Eagle, it looks as if West has started to fill their losses quite nicely. New goalie gives up 1 goal on 39 shots, new 9th grade forward scores in his 1st varsity game and 2 new D filled in nicely for the departed. West kept NP on the perimeter most of the night. However, a season is not made on 1 game, but it is an encouraging start.
