Duluth Marshall is on their way to becoming the Moorhead Spuds of Class A. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Anyone live up near Duluth and able to watch this on TV? After the game was over, the Hibbing coach ran onto the ice and was seen screaming at the ref while standing in the crease. Just thought it was pretty funny.

Congrats to both teams on an excellent game. Hibbing put up a very impressive fight, and we know Marshall will reprsent the north well at state even if they are a private school.

I think a lot of credit has to be given to Hibbing. They came a long way this year. Off a lot of peoples radar for most of the season and then they go out and knock off a very good I Falls team then take arguably the best single A team in the state in to O.T. They have nothing to hang their head about. They should be proud.

Yeah I saw that, he thought it was offside, but the Marshall guy had his right foot on the blueline. Great battle by both sides.

This was an incredible game. A lot of fun to be at and probably took a couple years of my life expectancy haha. Hibbing played a hell of a game congrads to them for showing up and putting it to Marshall. But Marshall deserved the W and the trip to the X, they had a great comeback after a shaky first 2 periods. They will represent 7A well and congrads to Dano, another great game winner. The kid shows up big at big games.
Does anyone know when they will seed the teams at state?

i loved to watch this game from the stands....it was just non stop action on both sides and the hibbing goalie played his heart out....both teams had chances where they could have won the game late in the third
congrats to marshall hockey and also to hibbing for making it this far and playin a hell of a game

Hats off to Hibbing and DM for one of the best games i have seen. Very even play and this one could have gone either way. Decenzo played a great game, but the difference maker in this one was Mark Laskowski. Had two huge goals to keep the toppers in the game. Congrats to Hibbing on a great season and good luck to the toppers at state!

It makes me feel sick that a team had to lose. Hibbing really battled and I was surprised to see how they improved from earlier in the year. They have a lot to be proud of.

I agree. This was a great game to be at. Decenzo and Jamnick played their hearts out and were making things happen all night long. Hibbing rebounded in the 3rd and pretty much dominated that period, but they just couldn't put away their chances. I thought it was over when they made it 3-2, but paine scored a crazy goal to tie it up right around 5 minutes to go in the game. Overtime was just back and forth, back and forth, the entire period. Mark lawskowski had a heck of a game though, and he definitely was the difference maker.
I did see the coach run out at the end of the game to argue the offsides, but there was nothing he could do about it then. I think the controversey was that whoever it was, had their skate on the blue line, lifted it up right when the puck crossed, and then put it back down. Although this may or may not have been offside, the refs didn't call it. Another great game at the DECC. Great showing from Hibbing, too bad they couldn't pull it out, its always fun to have one of those teams near .500 make it to state. Congratulations Marshall, good luck at State, let's hope they can represent the north well!

The only recruiting DM can be blamed for is being successful. Just like at Notre Dame in its prime for football people wanted to go because of its prestige. This is the same for DM, people want to play there because it has good hockey. Yeah i guess if you call succes recruting then DM is the best at it.
But is it right? I dont believe recruiting at the high school level is right for anything. Not everyone will play college hockey so you shouldnt go to a high school just to play hockey thats for college when your thinking about the next level. There is just as many kids getting recruited from public schools to go to college as private. So leaving your school behind to play for some stupid private school isnt right. I dont agree with it. And you say Marshall is the best at it. I believe this year STA has you beat along with many AA schools.
I agree in principle with what you arer saying. I've argued that we need to go back to the rules of the 60's when the public schools and the private schools had separate hockey tournaments. Then we could get back to a single class tourney, I believe.

It is true that he was arguing about the offsides, I also heard from someone on the team that the bus driver was watching the replay with the TV guys after the game and the call was actually wrong... I guess it was offsides by just a few inches... tough for Hibbing but you can't go back in time I guess. All I have to say is WOW what a game. Congrats to Sandstrom, heck of a good game on his part.

Stateofhockey07, yes he was arguing offsides, because it's what happened. If you watched the game on TV the replay was played like 5 times and it was a terrible no call.
Nothing in high school is able to be reviewed. Even in the NHL offsides in unreviewable. Goals have been scored after a missed offsides calls. If the goal was the legit, it goes since the offsides cannot be reversed. It is very unfortunate the game was decided because of this, but that is what happened.

2 bad after a great game, a blown call costs one team a shot at state.
